My tuppence...

Stokes back in
Roy given more test time over winter
Ali to open over Winter
Maybe someone like Liam Livingstone given a chance over winter? I don't follow the county game much but he seems to be having a pretty decent year?

Has Roy done much this year? Possibly open with him and move Hales to three. Lose Vince until he learns that application is more important than style.
493 runs in 16 innings with an average of 30 for Surrey so far this year.

I dont see why they dont drop ballance, move Ali up to 5 and bring Rashid in. Ali is one of our better batsman, but he is in the side as a spinner and he is just not good enough and often gets hit out of the attack.

That way you can play 2 spinners, plus 4 seam bowlers as Stokes bats at 6.

1.Cook
2.Hales??
3.Root
4.??
5.Ali
6.Stokes
7.Bairstow
8.Rashid
9.Woakes
10.Broad
11.Anderson

I think Root is better at 4, if going to give Hales another chance that means moving him to 3. If he can get his head right and stop making stupid shots Hales could make it, Vince and Ballance not up to it. So who to open with Cook?

Was thinking the same as above, maybe try Ali as opener again, no doubt Rashid will be back in for the winter.

Just to echo others on here, great test series really enjoyed it fair result at the end although a 5th decider would of been nice. Both teams played some awesome as well as some shocking cricket and good to see Younis quit his kangaroo impression and hit a double ton.

Bring on the one dayers!

Pakistan now number 1 ranked test time, so perhaps a 2-2 draw is fairly respectable:

In some respects yes.

But we hammered them in 2 tests and couldn't get out of first gear in the other two. So it's hard to know what to think.

Well done to Pakistan, despite not being able to play cricket at home and the problems the team have had over the years. Very happy for Misbah too, over-looked for years by the board, he deserves to be the captain of the team that has hit the no.1 spot.

Just a quick search suggests that Robin smith's 167 looks like the highest ODI score by an English Batsman.

I'm sure Sky will let us know soon.

I wonder how pissed Hales would be if he broke a 23 year old record only to see one his team-mates beat it less than an hour later?

Not sure he'd be bothered , he clearly had no idea that he'd broken the record .
