Scoreline flattered Wales a bit in the end TBH another 10+ points was a truer reflection.

Wales in for pain in NZ.

I know the coach has to support & nurture his players but apparently Jonesy said that GF had a good game......

I was lucky, had to go to a friends birthday bash and missed it. I did record it but shan't watch it as it sounds too painful.

Had Tom Shanklin give a talk before the game a lot of banter with him

Game wasn't good by any measure for Wales. I really think Wales are in for a raping without lube in NZ given today's performance. It always seems to be excuses that it's the next game that's important rather than every single game win win win that's all that matters.

England beat a team of second and third stringers
I know England were missing players, but Wales were missing Warburton, Halfpenny, Tipuric, Jonathan Davies, Luke Charteris, Ken Owens and it's always been the case that England have far greater strength in depth so are generally far less affected by absentees. So this narrative put about by a number of posters here about a 2nd or 3rd string England beating a full strength Wales really doesn't stack up.

That said, first 10 mins aside, Wales were a massive pile of tits yesterday and are going to need a turnaround bordering on the miraculous to avoid a humping in NZ.

I think saying England's XV yesterday was a 2nd or 3rd string is quite a bit off. There were plenty of capped players in there and first strigers like Hartley who need to get so match fitness under their belts before going to Aus. There were plenty.

I really hope Haskell and Robshaw get phased out of that backrow soon. Launchbury made his case for starting at lock and a backrow of Clifford, Vunipola, and Itoje gives me wood. So much more dynamic than the backrow we saw in the 6N. Clifford is better over the ball than the two incumbents although for his brief appearance yesterday Kvesic got a couple of turn overs.

I guess it's how you define 1st/2nd/3rd 15...

  1. 1 not a starter
  2. 4 & #5 - good experience (to put it mildly!!) but not starters
  3. 6 & #8 - virtual newbies both
  4. 12 not a starter
  5. 11 not a starter
Fazlet playing quite possibly another 14 points. That being said it must be acknowledged that Wales also had players missing - they will be worried though, the AB's will be looking forward to this.

As an aside should Biggar and Wyn-Jones have been yellow carded for trying to be footballers vis-a-vis their reaction to the Jack Clifford try?

Biggar's behaviour was inexcusable (despite what WG said). I'd say yes to a yellow card.

I watched the highlights this morning.

Did anyone who saw the whole game see any reason to believe Eddie Jones' comment about George Ford was anything other than a case of mistaken identity? confused The only two things that stuck in my mind were the most woeful place-kicking display I've ever seen, including watching games as far down the leagues as London Two South West, and having a kick from hand charged down.??

I don't particularly like Fazlet, but surely he walks into the starting XV for the first test now?

Wales must be crapping themselves at the thought of what the All Blacks are going to do to them with a fly half on the field!!! hehe

I agree that George Ford is in a bad place mentally right now. Place kicking rubbish and too much kicking from hand (and that of poor quality).

Farrell's display in both cup finals was leagues ahead of GF currently.

Does Ford have any off the field issues detracting from his abilities/he needs to learn to switch off

Well, the important game at Twickenham yesterday was the 12pm one, where last year's champions retained their crown with a convincing victory! We did stay on for the 3pm game where an average team in white beat a below average team in red, despite seemingly being allergic to kicking the ball between the posts when requested...

Ford's dad got the sack from the same club he plays for and has generally had an off season along with the rest of Bath. He's got a lot of expectation on him. Farrell has come along in a dominant team but watching him he takes it to line, make breaks and showing some nice kicking from hand-nice grubber through for a try in the AP final on Saturday.

I wouldn't be shocked to see a 6N repeat with Ford at 10 and Faz at 12 taking the kicking duties. Ford's tactical kicking out of hand at the weekend was good as were other facets of his game but the place kicking was appalling. Henry Slade had a right shocker at the weekend for Exeter, some poor tackling and generally an error strung performance.

to be fair up until recently I'd have had Ford in the team rather than Fazlet - however this season Ford seems to have lost his way (along with Bath, which obviously lead to his dad's removal), Fazlet on the other hand seems to have improved on some of his areas (his grubber for Taylor on saturday was sublime). If only Fazlet could stop acting the frown

Disappointed with Ford's place kicking but he did some good work in defence so hopefully just an off day with the boot. The points he missed were more than the Welsh amassed who quite honestly apart from the opening 10/15 minutes looked clueless and were totally outplayed. Biggar bought the game into disrepute and should've got a yellow. Our A team second row are world class as are our B team second row. Clifford had a great game as did Harrison. I don't think we have many problems in the pack. Yarde also had a very good game.

some comment was made vis-a-vis Mrs Ford on a post on one of the big rugby forums but not expanded upon
