They gave Brailsford permission to discuss the contents of the package as previously they were not allowed to discuss anything whilst the investigation was ongoing. My what is a real bore? I have zero loathing at all, been to watch him race a fair few times, inc the hour, incredible athlete and always has been, but there is more to this, clearly, and the retirement is fanning the flames.
In Micheal Barrys book he makes it clear that they were told in a team meeting that team Sky would do everything* within the rules to win. The context in which it is written and with what is now known about Wiggins and others makes it pretty clear what was meant.
Rules have apparently not been broken. However, whether collusion between those in higher positions in a team , riders and doctors/specialists in order for drugs to be prescribed that were performance enhancing but could be passed off as a medical requirement is something that surely at best must be a murky area as far as the rules apply.
TUE abuse is undoubtedly rampant as has been proved by various sports people admitting this. If its happening in cycling its happening in all professional sports as is outright cheating via the use of PEDs. To think otherwise is to be naive in the extreme. For the media not to make this leap smacks of not wanting to kill the golden goose.
Wiggins won the Tour and other races too with the help of legally prescribed performance enhancing drugs. His career is tainted. At best that's pretty morally questionable, even if he didn't break the actual rules. Wiggins credibility is further dented by his outright denials of injections other than for rehydration and vaccinations in his book.
I'm not saying all TUE's make an athlete a cheat, that would be ridiculous, some (maybe a lot) are totally legitimate. But closer inspection of what drugs they are prescribed and for what conditions clearly is something that needs investigation.

To have any effect on performance you'd have to take a much higher dosage of a PED than that prescribed legally by a doctor wouldn't you?popeyewhite said:
