Train involves driving to a station and then going up to London then back out again so have ruled that out.

Options seem to be:
  • Park somewhere vaguely nearby and get a tube/bus the rest of the way
  • Paying to use someone's driveway (seem to be a few sites dedicated to this)
Sounds like it can be a right scrum (excuse the pun) getting on a tube after the game. But then is traffic so terrible in the vicinity of the stadium, if so then don't want to be driving through hordes of people just to park up/leave!

Any recommendations folks?

Have you tried JustPark? I use it quite a bit and normally gives good value. The A316 is normally very bad on game days so try and avoid that if possible.

There isn't a tube at Twickenham just the main station a few mins walk away.

Thanks Challo, that's what i meant!

I'll try the website you've suggested. Looks like they shut a lot of the roads in the vicinity on match day so need to find somewhere near enough to walk but far enough out not to get stuck.

Son and I are going too. Our plan is drive to Windsor and catch the train from Windsor riverside station into twickenham. After match. Hang around for an hour or so to let crowd dissipate a little then same journey home

May be worth checking Windsor options if it's more convenient for you to get to?

We are getting the train from Bracknell as its a direct line and normally deal very well with the crowds after games. I think you should be fine getting the train to a station on the line.

Windsor is a very good option as its close to the M4 for access and lots of car parks around the town in easy walk of the station.

Without a doubt, travel via Windsor Riverside.
After rugby matches at Twickenham, the London bound platforms are a mess, at Twickenham. West bound are much better. Not sure if it will be similar after an NFL game, or not.
If you want to stagger your departure, the Barmy Arms, down by the river, might be worth a look. Always a good laugh after a rugby fixture.
The Windsor Riverside train leaves at 30 minute intervals (from memory). Thinking about it, there is a train that goes out to Ascot, which may suit you more.

personally I drive up the A4, turn right on to Bath road to pass Hounslow West tube and then park on Rosebery Road and walk in from there. I've never had a real issue with that route for 6 nations matches (which are a sell out and plenty of people driving).

Otherwise the train options mentioned are good, though expect lots of crowding at the station. I normally prefer going to Richmond, having a couple of pints around the green and then walking down to Twickenham. 30 min or so walk, but avoids the standing around in a crush at Twick station and not getting on to the first few trains.
