One unusual tactic will not win the match. The ref is part of it and I bet he gets an earful from Jones at half time.
I'd hope he'd tell Jones to politely fk off and read the rule book

Dreadful from England. That's a basic error.

England need a rocket for that.

I hope that they realise they aren't going to win by right now. Arrogant and lazy so far this 6 nations.

What, not being first to catch it off the post?

TBH I think that quite a few of them I are having a mare frown So far I think that care is looking ok, Daley is ok as is Lawes... after that (like England) am struggling. Italy are well worth their lead in all honesty

It is clear that the Irish coach has briefed the ref. That's what Jones will do. He'll have a tactic or two in mind and will want to ensure that the ref is aware.

Hopefully.

So, who was saying Italy should be out of the 6N?

Even if they don't win, this is a very entertaning first half. And if they do, it becomes and epic first half!

Dawdling around and not anticipating that, I have seen it happen before - more than once. They haven't anything else to defend against at that point.

If you can't catch it - be there to tackle the bloke who does

My team is level five and if there's a bounce of the post then the team run out to cover it. It's England just stood around looking at the ball. As soon as the angle was clear, there should have been players cluttering up the area.

If our team didn't do that . . . but then they do so I don't know.

If level 5 can manage it, and level 4 and 3 teams that I've followed, come to that.

As I said, pretty basic.

Yep, switched off thinking it was half time already.

Either that, or cover the catcher. Chasers and defenders should be watching the ball in the air, and if it looks like it's going to hit the post, work out the angle, where it may come down, and so on, and respond and be ready.

England's defenders did the watching bit really well. So much so they watched it land in the catcher's arms then thought "Oh!".

Poor from England. If it's not a ruck, pick it up and run forwards, again and again. The Italians will soon get fed up with that.

...and stop giving away silly penalties. The Italians have been great value for the first half, however I suspect that EJ will lend out a few brain cells and a bit of route 1 and we'll come away with a bonus point, but I'm really disappointed with how we've played the first half

If it's a tackle and not a ruck get your hands in pick it up and drive on.
This was my thinking and Nathan Hughes did it once. I assume as long as the tackler makes sure he releases the ball, if no opposition player is near enough to constitute a ruck he can just pick it up and go again
