Anyone going this year? Thought i'd start a thread for anyone who wants to share tips/bets etc. Haven't organised to go this year but will definitely be keeping an eye on things.

Never been but I started doing some little bets on Cheltenham 2012, did very well at the big events through to about 2014 but haven't bothered much since.

Had a quick look through the racecards/form this morning, I tend to do outsiders of top trainers that interest me. I always WFH tuesdays, so will have half an eye on the TV wink

e/w
1.30 Elgin
2.50 Footpad
3.30 Ibis du Rheu

e/w acc.
1.30 Melon
2.10 Altior
3.30 Yanworth
4.10 Limini

Quite like the look of Moon Racer EW in the 3.30 - looks to be decent value.

e/w on 4 very short odd favs is pointless. Just do them for the win. Save the e/w bets for odds of 4/1+

We are going tomorrow, will be our first time going to any horse racing event, really looking forward to it now.

What are the queues like to place a bet? I'm debating taking advantage of one of the many betting app free bet offers or spending a bit more and placing bets directly.

Place all your bets before you go. There is only 40mins between races and given the crowds, that isn't enough time to get a drink, place a bet and then get to watch the race. Worse still if you are queueing to collect winnings between races.

Unless you have a box of course.

Nah, not posh enough to rent a box, we did pay for Club Enclosure, but I guess that still gets busy?

You'll have a cracking time. But as said, the ques can be big.

I'd judge it on the day with regards to how to bet...there is a real buzz about having the ticket in your hand and cheering your pick over the line! When i went we'd send 2/3 people to grab the beers and one of us would put their bets on for them. Good luck and enjoy it, it's a great day out!

Definitely take a few ££s to place a bet with the bookies at the course. Having a bet, drink in hand watching the race is part of the whole experience.

Against my better judgement i'm going in the Best Mate enclosure on ..... Friday , last time i went was on champion chase day 10+ years ago and it was jam packed and full of fighting youngsters.

Today : Une Temps Pour Tout at 16/1 but nothing else , i was on Limini as well. tut.

Tomorrow :

13:30 Neon Wolf, been talked up so much you could probably back to lay for a free bet

14:10 Might Bite

14:50 yeah, good luck with that

15:30 strange feeling that douvan might get turned over, by what though i don't know

16:10 Auvergnat/Quantitive easing

16:50 Percy Street

17:30 Irish Roe

Good luck all
