I followed the Cheltenham thread with interest so thought I'd start a thread for the Grand National for anyone who wants to share tips/bets etc. I'm a fan of Willy Mullins but his entries don't sound very promising though I may have a little tickle e/w on Pleasant Company at 16/1. That said, Saphir Du Rheu sounds much better value at the same price.

I gamble daily on horses but concentrate mainly on the flat and Welsh trainers (Dave Evans, Dai Burchell, Ron Harris, Milton Bradley etc.

Don't know if anybody has been watching "Welsh Power" on ITV Wales, a three part series on Rebecca Curtis, Evan Williams Tim Vaughan and Peter Bowen? Not seen the last episode yet but it turns out that only Rebecca Curtis has a runner - gutted as I've done well out of Evan Williams runners in the past (place only at big odds).

Of Course Nigel Twiston Davies is Welsh though wink

Bit of advice on The National for those occasional punters that wont be in the know and the bookies certainly wont tell you - I always take out 'faller insurance' you loose a couple of points off the odds but well worth it as you get your stake back if it falls or refuses to jump.

I'll post my tip/s in a few days when I've had a closer look at Curtis's runners.

Three days to go. More of That seems to be getting a lot of love and will shorten if Barry Geraghty chooses to ride it so worth a look now.

P Nicholls second string is taking my eye with Katie Walsh on board - Wonderful Charm @ 40/1

Still waiting to see who's riding Rebecca Curtis's entries though especially Potters Cross @ 100/1

Is this the general Aintree thread as well?

Cheltenham was good to me finished well up - hoping for more of the same from here

There is usually a dedicated thread for photos of the [ahem] 'ladies'.

Yes let's restrict the chatter in here to the four-legged horses.

Wonder if Cue Card will make amends for Cheltenham today?

Yes I meant general Aintree as in the whole meet as opposed to one race.

Interesting, I was preferring Poole Master e/w - previous winner over the course and distance, won last time out.

But 28 runners is a bit of a lottery.

Cheers guys, a place was always going to be welcome (often I do place only) but the win was a massive bonus.

Dineur is a horse i've followed for years but I almost missed it today! The Bowen family train him but they keep swapping him between father (Peter) and son (Mickey) so It didn't get flagged up on my Racing Post 'stable alert'

But hey ho chalk another one up for Welsh trainers wink

PS. Dineur was runner up in this race last year same jockey @ 50/1

Not relevant for the GN but my mates horse is running for its first time at Wolverhampton on Sat eve. Auntie Pam. May be worth an EW bet!
Thanks

I've an interest in that race as Dave Evans has two new horses running - good luck I'll take a closer look tonight.

Me and the dear wife pick a horse each and pop £10 on e/w. Have always had a return in the last few years.

However this year she has picked...

The hope is not strong with this one...
