He was nervous as anything, I used to be a member at a Sussex club (Ifield) and the Pro used to put Exploding golf balls on the tee for them LOL.

I don't know many golfers that wouldn't be, there appears to be more people around that tee than at a LIV tournament. (although that's not saying that much) biggrin

Don't blame him. They shouldn't have allowed anyone to stand in front of him IMO, no need to add to the pressure.

No one should ever stand in front of an amateur golfer, and I wouldn't want to be stood in front of a pro either tbh. Accidents happen. Look at Max Homa the other day, that could've quite literally ended a life

Exactly, too much risk for no reward. I won't even stand at anything less than 90 degrees from an amateur.

Took the club demo out today. Really solid, only missed 3 fairways all day and got some out to 240 carry. Got a good price from the Pro but need to have a think about it...
Tested it against my Rogue ST on the course and j was surprised to see my Callaway longer by a decent amount (10 yards or so). I said to my playing partner that is feels powerful, but it's just not translating to course distance.

But is it more accurate? 10 yards might be worth it if you're down the middle every time smile

That was kind of my understanding of these latest ultra forgiving drivers, possible a shorter shaft as well?

Still interesting that MyGolfSpy, who operate their testing in quite a sophisticated "strokes gained" type way, rates it top this year i.e. a certain number of extra fairways is worth x number of yards lost.

Quite frankly, no. I'm pretty straight anyway and average around 70% of fairways.

Duncan, just to say thank you once again for the advice you gave me on not rotating the forearms but concentrating on the wrist bowing thing instead. I tried it today and that seems to be a key piece of the jigsaw for me. I was getting speed through the ball that I've not had before and combined with the new (old) FG Wilsons I played shots in a way that I've not been able to do before.
So many thanks again. I'll have to send you a Christmas present this year. beer

Listened to a Ping Podcast recently that said the opposite strangely. They are pushing for longer shafts and more distance as opposed to more fairways.
Anyway, not the stick for me and the Pro agreed.

Might take their G430 LST model out for a spin..hehe

Had a lesson the other day to try and reset. Irons have never been better, big sticks have gone a bit wayward. Anyway, have some work to do as I’d been pushing my hips forward on my ball strike leading to inconsistency so lots of practise ahead. At the range last night it was beginning to click, 5 in a row straight and long with the last 5 balls is a win in my book!

My eldest came down with me, he’s always had an interest but keen to do more this year. He’s 14, and outgrown the US kids club he had been using. There seems to be a bit of a gap in clubs for teens, do they go to women’s clubs at this age and size? He’s slight for his age so concerned about weight, he’s at the point I was playing a lot so don’t want to put him off at all.

Yes, ladies clubs are a solution. My 11 year old is big for his age and needed bigger and better clubs, but at the right weight. Not cheap stepping up to proper clubs, but if he's keen then the right option.

Having the same with my 13yo. He’s 5’9” so fits into mens clubs, but not quite strong enough yet to manage them.

So he has a mens Ping G410 driver with a lighter shaft, an Adams 5 hybrid with a light shafts, and Ping ladies irons, that he will probably grow out of shortly.

Buying good second hand clubs means I can sell them on and it not cost me too much. I’ll probably make money on the Ping irons as they were very cheap.

I’ve done a deal with him that I will buy him a new set of clubs when he breaks 100 round our 65 course.

I’ve got a set of Ping Prodi G to sell that are at their maximum length. If anyone is interested. They were re-shafted a few months ago and hardly used since as the boy grew out of them.

Played Farnham Sands today. Really nice track - in great condition given the weather we’ve had. Would recommend it to anyone in the area.

Tried something new today - absolutely no swing thoughts. Pre-shot just feel and picture the shape I wanted to hit. Walk up, focus on the ball and just swing hard. Absolute revelation - best I’ve ever struck the ball. Putted like a complete moron and shot 78.

Lesson learnt - from now on technical work on the range - on the course just bloody rip the thing. Felt very liberating - just got out of my own head.

Nice, we are going to Brittany and Fontainebleau in August and will be taking the clubs. We've also got tickets for the Ladies Olympic golf as well which I'm looking forward to. Any recommendations for South of Paris or Brittany near Primelin?

Quick question, if you are looking at a course that says you need a licence or green card will they accept an official WHS handicap instead or do you have to stick to courses that don't require it? We played at Omaha Beach Golf Club last April but they didn't have that requirement but a couple of courses we are looking at this year do.
