I’m never convinced by the numbers on these.

Yesterday I was at the one near me and it was telling me that my 7 iron was carrying 35 yards further than I know it does.

The ball compensation was on and there was a 1 club wind but it seemed well out of whack for me.

I then played a round of 9 and while I hit a few nice shots, I certainly hadn’t added 35 yards to my 7 iron!
I'd trust trackman range over top Tracer as it's radar, i also prefer the software. That said I can't stand the fact they now charge 10 quid for 100 balls when I don't need it ( I have a mevo+)

Played today and got round 15 holes before dark with a cheaper 1pm tee time. First 9 in 51 which is a best for me. Assuming bogeys for each of the last 3 would have been 104 so getting better but so much more to find if I can start striking properly.

Still struggling with ground striking before the ball so most of my approach play was pretty turd. Had a couple of good holes and missed an easy ish par on one 4.

First time using Arccos as well which is pretty interesting. Clearly highlighting the awful approach play but putting not too great either. Gives some useful info which I clearly need to work on.

Those with launch monitors at home what’s your setup like? Full sim or just using a net?

I take range distances as a rough guide only, certainly not concrete proof of what I can hit.
I'd say my 7i is generally 170-175, but recently I had one range shot saying I hit it 192! rolleyeshehe
Good going that, well up with PGA tour average 7 iron:

You go to the range, with a 2k launch monitor?

Justin Rose hit a 61 in the final round at the Sentry yesterday, 12 birdies no bogeys, low round of the day, unfortunately he'd hit a 75 in round 3.

He really should have a couple more major wins, perhaps now that his putting has improved?

I went up to the the local range over christmas and there was a guy with a GC Quad in one of the bays. He was utterley terrible as well, which did make me laugh.

I often take up my Garmin R10 so I can track club & face details, and angle of attack, as that is what I am currently working on, so its great to see after each shot. I don't bother with the distances at all to be honest as that is just a by product of the other things being right, and range balls, etc, make it pointless to some degree.

Morfontaine....the funniest course I've ever set foot on!!! Go play it..its like sunningdale meets faulty towers.....in a fantastic way

I like the look of Morfontaine, How have/will you get on though?

Lot of good golf around Paris, couple of mates played Joyenval in a seniors comp last year and said it was nice. It's easily commutable for me as well getting the ferry from Poole/Cherbourg.

Probably likely to be rather expensive though and limited on good weather months!
I've just looked that club up and it seems more difficult to get into than Augusta! It does look like a lovely course, quite reminiscent of somewhere like Sunningdale.
I got bloody lucky and was offered a space to make up x8 golfers with my dad and my best mates dad..we had to do all the driving though!

Did chantilly, Paris national and international, les bordes and Morfontaine.

The rest of the group had R and A memberships Inc. a Loch lomond member, a top 5 uk club captain and some old school golf society connections thrown in...

Doubt they'd let me through the gate on my own!
Wow, I bet it was incredible.

Went up to the driving range over the weekend and i'm certainly improving. I wanted to try out a 2nd hand hybrid I had purchased over Christmas and I really enjoyed using it.

My driver game is still pretty weak but I think I might need something with a higher loft, my current club was another 2nd hand eBay find and its 9 degree loft is making it pretty hard for me to get any elevation. From reading online a 10.5 degree might be better and more forgiving.

Sometimes yes, why is that questionable?

Sorry, I guess it's probably not that strange, I do however think that £10 for 100 trackman balls is fair, it's an excellent experience for those of us without our own monitors.

Plan for 2024 is definitely to play more competitive rounds and hopefully see my handicap drop a little.

Anyone got any thoughts on the arccos sensors, considering a purchase this year?

HNY Golfers.

I started 2023 off around 16 HC. Finishing on11.5, my goal was to get to single figures, i just missed out on that.
With regular coaching my game improved drastically during 2023. I think with another couple of competitions i would of made it to single figures.

I managed to finally eagle the par 5 on our course towards the end of the year which was another mini goal.
During my last round of the year i managed 3 birdies in a round & carded a 74 with 2 doubles (par 68). Along the way i managed to win a couple of board comps, so that was definitely my golfing highlights of the year.

I began '24 with an eagle on a par 4 yesterday, i was told it's technically a hard par 3, but i don't care I'm taking it! rofl

I'd like to win some more comps, but now i'm getting towards single figures i do think this will become quite tricky, so i'm looking forward to playing good golf, a variance of course & hopefully improving my putting, which i truly believe is what lets me down from actually carding some quite low scores!

I’m on the top tracer (£50 per year unlimited balls), and I have ‘company’ rocking up with a track man… lol

You started the year on 16 and, by the end, were on 11.5 and had carded a 74.

That is bloody fantastic! Great effort.

I still haven't broken 80 (and I'm off 12).

Had a life changing lesson a few weeks ago and one of the first things pro did was to up the loft on my hybrid, which made life a lot easier. Already on 10.5 with the driver and that goes plenty far enough. I think we can get a bit obsessed with distance.

Agreed that's fantastic work - I'm off 8 and the lowest I went last year was 76, albeit on a Par 71. Definitely need TheGuvernors handicap to come down before any potential PH meet up wink

Just to follow up on my question from Saturday on the weird distances above a 7 iron, i went to a different TopTracer range yesterday - purely in the name of science you understand smile

At this one I saw a consistent increases in distance up to my 4 iron, which I'm not too concerned about as I'm struggling to catch that cleanly at the moment, so it was definitely a Toptracer issue.

Swing was working well as well, very consistent and started to see my ball speed get back to normal after the changes I've been making - managed 162 mph with my Driver which wasn't too shabby considering it was 2 degrees C at the time.

Really looking forward to this season - if I can keep this up then my ultimate goal of playing off 5 or below definitely seems achievable. Just got to keep at it.

I've just ordered a set of Acrros, how have you found them so far? Worth the purchase?

TIA smile

If looking at Arccos I'd take a look at ShotScope as well - similar functionality but the tags on the clubs are less intrusive, no yearly subscription either.
