I've just ordered a set of Acrros, how have you found them so far? Worth the purchase?

TIA smile
Just played one round so far, but they picked every shot/club up perfectly bar one duffed chip around the green which seemed easy to edit. Required a bit of added info after the round to change some bunker shots from rough to sand other than that ready to go.

Not sure on shot scope but what I like about it beyond having all the stats to hand/ball positions is the comparisons to target handicap and insights it gives in terms of areas to focus on.

I was using the app for distances so did feel like I was on my phone quite a bit too but that was ok seeing as I don’t have a watch or another way to get yardages. Ideally needs you to mark the pin position on the green for ultimate accuracy. The do the link thing which means you can not bother with the phone so may look at that in future.

Given I’d spend up to 70 quid on a lesson for the £120 quid they were I’d say it’s a relative bargain for a years worth of the stats/information it’ll bring.

First competition of the year yesterday - January stableford

The course (The Addington) was playing long! The greens were also very soft, inconsistent on speed and the days foot prints making a rollercoaster for my many putts.

Finished with 33 points (79) with 6 3-putts and 2 blob holes offset by a tap in birdie on 5 (4 points) and a tap in eagle on 12 for 4 more. Despite adding a counter I knocked off a lower one taking my index to 6.2.

Target for the year is to get the index below 5, may be difficult as I've got a 1.9 score rolling off in 2 rounds' time!

Happy New Year all!
Long-time lurker here, but starting to get involved here now I have retired.
Playing off 12.6 and changed club in October from a 9 hole to an 18 hole course.
Longer, tighter and generally trickier so while my handicap index is likely to increase, my golf will hopefully improve.
Sadly I have only played three times since joining as I have ''golfers elbow" in both arms from some inadvisable heavy lifting in the summer. So, an expensive switch so far.
My goal this year is to get back to playing properly for the beginning of the 'season'.
Anyone else had this affliction, and how long were you off for?

Happy golfing, assuming your course is open

Really starting to get back into golf now after the New Year. There's a new indoor Trackman Sim company which has opened about 10 mins away from where I live - 5 x Trackman bays and it's a fantastic facility so i've been using that a lot over the winter to keep it dialed in.

I'm currently off 13.1 and want to get down to single figures this year. I'm hoping that going to be possible as my golf has improved a lot since I last put in a scorecard.

On that note, can anyone recommend any good courses to join around the Wigan area. A few of us are members at Dean Wood but the drainage is terrible and I'm not lying when I say we've probably been able to play it 3 times since October. It's just a waste of money and is essentially an annual membership to play for 7 months of the year. Anyone know of anywhere that stays reasonably dry, without having to pay links membership prices?

If looking at Arccos I'd take a look at ShotScope as well - similar functionality but the tags on the clubs are less intrusive, no yearly subscription either.
I was literally about to say the same thing. I use Shot Scope and I think it's really good. At the risk of sounding like a shill, I don't realistically think that Arccos can be much more accurate, and Shot Scope is a one-time purchase, as you say.

I am also very impressed by the new strategy planner - you can get an overhead view of any course on the database and lay your club dispersions over it (for tee shots), make notes, and save it, for when you're going round.

Nice going. I played there on Dec 27th. weather was atrocious - we decided to call it a day after the 15th. Will be interesting to see if the plans are realised - that underground tunnel to the new clubhouse sounds interesting! I'll be back for a round in the Spring. Birdied the 9th, so treated myself to a sausage bap at the halfway hut.

Another 9 for me - Have managed to get out for 3 lunchtime 9's in 2024 now. Hit some nice shots out there which is all I can really ask for having not swung a club for 6 weeks.

Played Heydon today which is dry at least - although 2.5 degrees and a 25mph wind made for some interesting club choices. At one point I smashed my 3 hybrid out of the rough directly into the head wind - hit it pretty much as well as I could and it went 135 yards to make the green. If I'd hit my usual 8 iron, I reckon it would have finished behind me with that wind!

Scoring is not quite there, but longer clubs are going well enough in cold and soggy conditions (although I'm losing distance vs my handicap according to Arccos (not sure it takes the winter conditions into consideration)), and the short game (pitching and chipping) continues to perform better than my handicap. Putting is pants, but hardly my fault as the greens are pants.

My swing has come on leaps and bound by practicing swing path in the back garden on a bit of old wet carpet which allows me to draw a line and then try and get the "divot" to start at the line (i.e. to focus on hitting ahead of the ball). The big change I've made to do this is to really work on keeping my left arm straight through the backswing with the Swingyde attached (Danny Maude describes it as keeping the Y shape). If I do that, I seem to be consitently hitting the ball pretty well at the minute. Here's hoping it continues (and that the home course dries up a bit - Please no more rain in Cambridge).

How far is Bolton old links? Not played but I know they have invested and improved its on a hill with scots pines so I’d think as dry as anywhere

About 30 mins away so that’s now on the list to try. Thanks for that…appreciate it!

Just been reading a review and it does look a very impressive but of kit. I just wish Ping would stop with the appendages on top of the crown, I find them massively distracting.

Price is punchy as you say, although if you consider Callaway we're asking £499 for the Great Big Bertha in 1996....

I bought a Biggest Big Bertha around that time for silly money.
I've asked my Pro if I can demo the G430 10k and Smoke Ai on his Flightscope and see what the numbers look like. Won't probably buy until March time but the reviews are good...

Whilst I'm not in the market myself as I'm still happy with my TS4, I'll be very interested to hear how you get on, so be sure to report back smile

I can't see why you'd go for the 10k over a fitted 430 max

When are the reviews ever not good. Always seem to be great almost whatever it is, or maybe I’m watching/reading the wrong stuff.

Completely agree, that seems to be the way it works now, especially with YT channels etc.

The reviews might not be wrong. Is it possibly to buy a bad driver now? Or any truly bad clubs from any major brand?

Sure, some might be better than others, but it’s more likely basically everything in the mid to high end now is good.

As a beginner, I’d be really surprised if I could even tell that much difference between all the top drivers!

No, they're all pretty good to be fair. It's more about getting fitted for what's right for your swing and delivery into the ball. Very little difference between them all.

Just watched the TXG (Club Champ) review of the 10k on YT which was interesting..
