WRU seem determined to force some clubs to fold. The current league my local team play in is packed with other local teams. There is only 1 or 2 away games where they have to travel say 40 miles everything else is probably 15 miles away max. Most 2-3 miles.

WRU are rearranging the league next season so they’ll end up with at least 4-5 away games a season over 60 miles away. They’re already paying a poor standard of rugby and some lads either won’t have the time for that travel or be arsed to sit in a bus for 90 minutes plus each way for a hiding every other week.

The current local league structure created big crowds and more cash for the clubs. The rugby was competitive enough too
Yep, local leagues are the right thing below a certain level. It's basically a social/hobby league below the Championship so you might as well keep it local.

WRU screwing up the amateur, professional and international game is a truly remarkable feat. All the while having a toxic culture. Kudos.

And we haven’t even started to call them out for the fkery they’re doing to the welsh premiership yet hehe

Fewer games + fewer teams = less gate receipts (which are critical for the clubs to survive). Who is filling the hole? There’s even a whiff of will it/wont it of even get off the ground next season! It’s like a poorly executed Hokey Cokey!

Can the clubs not vote out the WRU Exec? It always rather surprises me that the English grass roots haven't exercised that power with the RFU, but they do at least have it in theory!

If they all decided to say "sod off, we're staying playing each other in our local league, thanks very much", could the WRU do anything to stop them?

So...until recently the clubs made up a disproportionate number of the executive and had way, way too much influence in decisions made.

In effect, rugby union is now two different sports, one amateur and one professional. Neither should be involved in decision making that impacts the other. I think the WRU are trying to align governance to this, but you still have a situation where retired butchers have a seat on the WRU board where decisions impacting a £100M company are made.

You are a humourless turd.
Whereas we are all, of course, in complete awe of your incisive rapier wit! hehe
ahhh sadly I missed this last round of matches (and banter) thanks to not having internet on my holidays. Strikes me that Big ol' Thunter and the FunSponge need to get a room hehe

On to more serious matters - I'll finally be able to enjoy watching the highlights this afternoon (though it obviously loses some of the tension when you know the result frown )

Let it go chum, everyone else has, no need to fan the flames, it’s childish.
