Potentially worse news than Rooney, in my opinion...

Yep, I thought that when the media were droning on about Rooney's foot this afternoon. I would have Carrick in for him and let Lampard go forward personally.

Says he's 50-50, lets hope he feels ok to play.

Not worth risking him against Paraguay, may as well rest him and make sure he's 100% for the later games.

Paraguay are no mugs though, maybe rest him for T&T game, all presuming he's ok to play.
Only he'll know, he's too experienced to play when he's not 100% right. Fingers crossed that'll
be soon.

I'd do the opposite, drop Lampard for carrick and let gerrard go forward. Or drop Beckham but that would be unthinkable

As a Liverpool fan I'm sure Gerrard is one of the best midfielders in the world (in fact, I think it's safe to say England have one of the strongest midfields in the competition), I only hope he can show his Liverpool form in an England shirt - it's something Barnes and Fowler never quite managed.
Whilst I don't think Gerrard has dissapointed for England, I don't think he's ever grabbed a game by the scruff of the neck and driven the team on to great things like he's done for club.
I don't think he's ever had enough freedom in an England shirt to influence a game, so please Sven, don't stick the lad out on the left wing anymore!

Nice link, but it appears Sven's been messaging 606sport under the alias "AO": "If Gerrard's doubtful, play Owen Hargreaves"

Is it only Sven that sees anything in Hargreaves? Whenever I've seen him play, he seems incapable of anything but charging around like a headless chicken and when he finally catches up with the ball, he just tw*ts the thing upfield missing everyone in an England shirt bar the fans in Row Z behind the goals...

I must admit that's how I feel, but he's so well respected in Germany. Especially by the Bayern fans and they are a hard bunch to please apparantly. I think he's a player on the fringe of the squad who doesn't get enough chances to have a bit of a run to settle into the team.
