I see.
Most of us here stop playing cricket when we are about 7 so forgive the confusion.
Out of interest would you be bothered if I gloated that England were better than Australia at 10 pin bowling?

Including the 11 or so English (well mostly english) blokes that went to the West Indies last month it seems.

Only because it wouldn't be true - I'm sure we kick yr arse at that too

I did read your blind cricket team are currently regarded as world No.1 though (and I'm not joking) so gloat away my friend

Anyway - don't want to hijack this thread anymore - forgive me for a bit of drunken fun & banter on Sunday but it's now been ressurected again by the late mail brigade, hop over to the cricket sledgefest thread if you want to get stuck into me - that's where all the fun's at
lets leave it back to the OP now

Steve Harper, if he had been playing regular first team football he would have easily been England's keeper.

Did Gary Pallister ever play for England? Paired with Steve Bruce in the 93-94 and 94-95 seasons he was probably one of the best central defenders in the world.*

*From the perspective of a Man Utd fan, obviously

There IS a reason he hasn't played more first team football ...

He's not that good that anyone wanted to buy him so he's been stuck in the north-east for 56 years in the Geordie reserve team

He's a better keeper than has appeared this season - or at least he was previously. Maybe too much time on the bench has spoilt that. When Given is out, I am happy to see him playing for the toon. But the choice between Harper and Given, who in my opinion is possibly the best keeper in the premiership, I know who I'd pick first. And for those that claim Petr Cech or Papa Reina or Lehmann etc, how about first seeing how those keepers would handle a backline in front of them including the likes of big Titus, Babayaro, Carr and a long list of other hopeless defenders we've had.

Speaking of Bramble, add him to the list . So much better than those Terry, Carragher, Woodgate or Ferdinand fellas...
yes, now I am having a laugh
