Look at the true test - the EPL - and answer your own question.

Winning a knockout comp on penalties. Oh dear. And it would surprise me not at all if Liverpool set their stall out on May 23rd to do just that.

Nobody cares how you do it, it's only about the result.

Be happy with your own achievements, and stop harping on about Liverpool

No chance, Andy. You haven't won anything yet this year (as per United). How can you be happy with not winning the Premiership in 17 years and having won the Champions leaugue once in that 17 year period ?

At no point have I said that I'm happy about not winning The Premiership. What I did say, was that I would prefer to win a possible two Champions Leagues to a possible single Premiership. Two totally different things
Within a 17 year period ? I think not.

Granted, you might win it this year but the competition has become diluted compared to the days of old when you won it in its 'proper' format.

Lazy, you're trying to preach to the converted. IIRC on each of the two occasions you've won the CL you haven't even been Champions of your home league, unlike us on 4 of the 5 occasions we have won

So, in essence, if you'd prefer the 'proper' format, you'd not have won the CL to our 4 times. You choose...
I know that. And the possible 2 times you might have won it recently, you have not been champions either.

You're kidding yourself if you're happy with the situation at Liverpool at the moment.

I'm very happy thanks We're hardly living a pauper's life having won The Champions League, The FA Cup, The League Cup, The European SuperCup and The Community Shield in the last 3 years
But, the League/Premiership title is missing from this list.

OK, you might not be living a paupers life but nor is anybody in the Premiership.

I wouldn't swap Uniteds last 17, 10 or 5 years successes for Liverpools. In fact, I wouldn't swap anything. That goes for shirts, pennants, memorabilia, scarves........ etc. etc.

Liverpool smell of poo aswell.

Good job for Rafa you don't actually have to be Champions to enter the Champion's league.

It's strange how Liverpool can be so good in Europe but struggle to put together a decent premiership challenge.

Apologies, but I can't be bothered going blind trying to quote and unquote

I'd 100% prefer to win two CL's to a single Premiership over a 17 year period. You're presuming that as soon as we win The Premiership all will be seen to be fine. Not for Liverpool - we'd want 2/3 titles in quick succession before even considering that.

Give us more of your thoughts on The CL's 'proper' format If you know your history, why are you harping on about it?

Nobody in The Premiership has won more than us in the last 3-4 years, so I have all the more reason to be happy. I'd not wish to swap Liverpool's history for any other, we are after all the benchmark when it comes to English teams.

If you're happy with yours, then fair enough - good for you - but come on, don't let the green eyed monster in you come out due to you not making the final. Be happy with what you've got, you've done well this season

You're missing my point Andy - I was in fact giving Liverpool the credit they deserve for winning the European Cup in the olden days. I know in that guise, we only won it once. There is no dispute, no argument. Liverpool were awesome in those days. yes

As with any knockout type competition, World Cup, FA Cup whatever, being the best team and winning aren't necessarily linked.

In terms of preference of trophies go, I'd order them like this

Champions
Prem
FA
The reserves cup

Not really. Benitez is a European coach who is very tactically astute. The champion's league or la liga should be his forte. You can see he suffers in the prem at times, recent signings haven't helped as we still lack a true creative spark in the final third. He hasn't worked out how to play away in the prem yet, something Houllier also suffered with and yet look at Lyon now. Also, a lot of the players in the Liverpool side would prefer a European style of play. They are being adapted to the Prem, it isn't necessarily their natural way to play. There are examples, such as Alonso and Kuyt, who appear to be establishing themselves quickly though.

All in all, I'd rather be playing Milan than Man U in the CL final. Much more Rafa's game imo.

Just for reference.

Didnt it take 7 seasons for SAF to win his 1st/prem title, and thats inheriting a good squad and having a lot of cash.

Also , considering Rafa is about 20 year younger, at the same stage in their careers Rafa has wone more with similar clubs.

Give Rafa time and he'll deliver the Premiership.

People forget SAF was one game from the sack in the early days.

The takeover at Anfield bodes well for the future, not in an Abrahmovic style but perhaps a more considered and ulitmately fruitful way. You have to have an infrastructure to support a club now. Old Trafford is a tremendous asset for Man U, a new Anfield would be the base Liverpool need. I only hope they keep the magic we all saw the other night.
