Sorry, but I am hoping to go a bit faster, I only need to take a couple of seconds off to get above you
Damn - i'm going to need to find a flat parkrun in London - keep flying to Scotland to get a better time is expensive!! Good suggestion, thanks for that
last night was our monthly (ish) handicap race again, this time the first runner to set off was given a 14:40 head start on me, other people setting off at various intervals and 3-4 set off behind me. 5.27 miles took me 31:50 so was pretty pleased with that, had a few hills in it too, just a bit quicker and i'd have been under 6min/mile but it was a hard session tuesday! didn't run yesterday and can't today so will be hill work tomorrow and a lovely long(ish....11-12miles or so) run in brecon beacons sunday.
Not for the first time - but definitely worse than usual - I seem to have totally lost motivation. I've been putting off my long run planned for last weekend and finally got out today. Felt fine but after about 5 - 6 miles really just could not be bothered to carry on. Forced myself to make it 9 miles.
Maybe try and get out tomorrow, but might take a few days off and see if it helps.
Going to try and find a 20+ mile race or two to do - even if I just treat them as training runs maybe running with others will force me to keep at it!

2 mile warm up, 11 hill reps which made 3 miles (so 5 including warm up), hard up, slow down. Pace for the reps was 7/mile so was about 5:30-6/mile on the efforts up. 2 miles back made it 7.00 miles!
Was tough. 10-12 miles tomorrow morning in Brecon beacons from pontsticill reservoir. Can't wait

Just had a nice bowl of porridge and it's 1 hour until I leave for brecon to go on that trail posted a while ago.
I can see 1 problem. I checked the terrain on google maps. Starts at 400m above sea level and climb to 600,descending back to about 300, then turn back around.
So about 500m worth of climb. That's a LOT in a run! That'd make the run about 11 miles but with that climb in suspect it'll be more than enough

i just had the most stunning 12 mile run of my entire life. over 11 miles off road, stunning, stunning scenery, lots of hills, lots of mix of trails out in the open, in the woods etc and well....just stunning. here is a quick piccy of a place i ran past....just HAD to get the phone and take a picture on the drive back.
absolutely exhilarated. i didn't want the run to end...but my mate did

http://home.cribynrace.org.uk/the-routenot too far from me.....but fk me would that be a seriously tough run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's a run I like doing that takes in those two peaks but from the south. Start from the end of the road to the Neuadd Reservoirs and head north up the track on the eastern side, then up Cribyn, Pen-y-Fan, Corn Du and along the escarpment southwards along Graig Fan Ddu to the cairn and then drop straight back down to the reservoirs.

yep, is that the horse shoe loop? we didn't go along the roman road today but followed the track south and east to the reservoir and back up along the railway line (stunning trail along there....through the woods) back past the outdoors centre, along another trail which brought us onto the road heading north, we dived off onto another trail which took us to the 3rd dam, crossed that and then headed back, was around 11 miles....enjoyed every minute of it....though the track heading towards the 3rd dam was VERY boggy at points and i got rather muddy. headed back down south the other side on the road before joining up with the path leading to the roman road again (south bound, though) and finally back to the car.hard to explain as i don't entirely know where i went, i followed my mate who's ran there before.
was epic
Did the Knole Park 10k this morning....defiantly a lot more work needed...i finished in 57 minutes, pretty shocking considering the last event I did (Epsom 10 miles in 2010) I completed in 1:17 and even managed the first 10K of the Edinburgh marathon in 50 minutes....
I blame the hills and grass, not the extra 1.5 stone i'm carrying....

No race for me, but my first runs on consequative days on the comeback trail. 9 miles in 1:06 and then an easy 6 with the wife in 49:30.... Fingers crossed that the stretching keeps the injury away.
Well done to all those who ran in the heat. It´s the temperature change which gets to you... fingers crossed for some lower temps for the marathon season
