That wouldn't have been the cotswold way over the racecourse would it? I've done it once before, it's a b d with all the climbing, particularly the mile or so straight up after you go down the stairs just past the golf course.

Sounds pretty good to me! Do you think you'll ever be at the level you once was? At the longer stuff, possibly. No chance for the 1500m/mile/3000m steeplechase, but I might be able to improve my 10mile/half marathon/20mile times (and complete a marathon! ). I just need a bit of consistency to get back to fitness for the pacemaking job at the end of October and work on from there. cookie118 said: That wouldn't have been the cotswold way over the racecourse would it? No, but the main climb started from near there - after the steps the Cotswold Way drops to cross the top of Weston Park West and heads around the hill. About 100m after the top of Weston Park West you can bear right up the hill and then straight up towards Beckfords Tower and the top of Lansdown. I'm slowly building a mostly-offroad perimeter run of Bath...

Last Sunday I ran the MK Marathon in 4.13. Yesterday I failed to finish the Letchworth Greenway Challenge as I took a wrong turn and got lost and a very sore knee and gave up, got a lift back but ran 12 miles in 1.50. Today ran the Watford 10k in 48.15, beat my PB by 3 mins and was 208 out of 1037.
Next Sunday have my first tri, 400m in pool, 12km on mountain bike and 5km run.

Just a gentle 5k for me this morning after a day off yesterday - a slow opening mile as my legs took some warming up after Sunday, but the next two at 6:50/miles or thereabouts.
Legs feel ok, but I'm full of a stinking cold.
Probably the same again tomorrow but won't really try and get back into things until next week. Need to give some thought to my next target too.

4 mile race for me tonight. forecast looks like it's going to be reasonably windy so hope that doesn't stop me getting a good time. ultimate goal is to beat a chap in my club, never beaten him in a race before but last couple of weeks in training i've been (JUST!!) ahead....sub 23mins would be nice. last year this chap ran a 22:20.
fingers crossed all goes well
Ross.

If it is, then it's 20k on the bike, and it's a road course as far as I can see. If you are missing a bike then you are welcome to borrow mine if it fits you (I'm in Panshanger).

4 miler went quite well. I ran through 5k in 17:18 (pb!) and finished the 4 miles in 22:28 by my watch, which had 4.01 miles.
Wanted sub 23 so under 22:30 was good. Not a patch on some of you chaps but not bad. 5:36 or 5:37/mile average I think it was

Now then you fast buggers, I thought I'd share a short tale with you... Last weekend I did my first ever marathon in Big Sur, California. The night before, I met a chap called Dean Karnazes who is an ultra-marathoner. Long story short he agreed that, if I were to see him during the run, we could run a bit of it together. Now bearing in mind this incredible running machine git started in Monterey and ran to the start line first (a mere 40 miles or so), then turned round and ran the marathon, I figured I could stick with him for a while. I managed........ 300 metres alongside before my lungs practically detached themselves. Maybe I'm not cut out for distance running

Did a 24km off road race at the weekend in Tongoriro (NZ). It included over 2000ft of ascent and a lot of mud. Pleased to finish in 2 hrs 37 mins and 23rd overall (out of about 140). Not bad for my 48 years... I even enjoyed the outing. There is no hope for me :-)

Well, 22:30 for 4 miles is sub-35 10k pace, so if you find a decent 10k race and go off at 36:00 pace (5:48/mile) you should find you can pick it up towards the end and definitely go inside 36.

i had a bit of a rant earlier at someone. when they found out i'd run the time i did for 4 miles they said "yeah, you've just got natural speed" i took a little bit of offence. i have worked my tits off to get to where i am. now, i'm far from super quick but i'm not a slouch either and it hasn't been easy to get to where i am; it takes commitment and dedication to do it. and to have someone claim it's "all natural" miffed me a little. people don't understand. i'm not one of those who only runs when the sun is shining. i go out training come wind, rain, sun, shine, snow, fog, ice etc....i go out because i know if i keep training through whatever the weather throws, i've been consistent. and consistency and hard work pays off. i admit some people are certainly naturally gifted, but without regular running i don't think many people could run as quick as i do. rant over

9.2 mile for me last night, so that is 24.2 mile run since sunday. Happy with that and feel happy with the distance in prep for when i start marathon training in june. Bleep test and other quicket runs down at running club so hopefully will help with speed.
