Looks like a great idea - but 50,000 * £35 is only £1.5m

Not enough for a club of any calibre - although Leeds are the top bet at the moment, and it's probably enough for them!

I think the idea is to buy a "small" team as we all know that 1.5m will not buy man utd or any other team in the top flight, but it is a cracking idea.

How many small teams turn a profit? Once they've bought the team they'll probably need more money for the actual day to day running?

You need to form a Supporters' Trust, as we did at Exeter four or five years ago. Membership is about 2.5k and minimum subs are £2 per month. Currently the Trust is the major shareholder of ECFC and 'loans' the club somewhere in the region of £9k per month, as well as buying various bits and bobs that the club needs - we had a borehole installed at the training ground the other day which will save five figures per annum that the Trust paid for.

That's how to own your own football club - I own mine, so do me kids!

That is very true & i wouldnt have thought any of the 50.000 people would see any money back if the team started to make a profit.
