Not a great display - why oh why are Gerrard and Lampard on the pitch at the same time, what position was Wes Brown playing again and can someone please explain to Dyer that if you are in the box pointing at goal than shooting might be a good idea?
Good to see classic Spurs performances from Robinson and King - play really well then try to give a goal away at the end of the halves.

Quite enjoyed that - the football was OK - but wasn't it like watching your kid getting back on their bike after a wreck. Slowly the confidence came back, the self belief being stoked. Beckham nursing them along. Mclaren looks irrelevant and Tel just looks a big sulky kid. They wanted to play for themselves and their ?? Captain - like it should be. A pat on the back from someone you respect will always motivate.

Joe Cole's goal was stunning, and Beckham's deliveries for the other two were perfect, especially the first one, so no problems with the goals tonight! thumbup

As a long term Beckham fan (football only) I can watch his delivery of the ball to the box all day, okay only watching MOTD footage but the style, the pace, the precise placement of his crosses are for me phenomenal.

The way his foot comes under the ball and gives the ball the instant acceleration which then curls and drops in the air just at the right time is magical.

Shame he signed to the yanks too early but fwiw I think Macca was right to drop him because Becks has come back brighter with more hunger

yes The man is one of the few on the pitch who can turn things around in the blink of the eye , the 3rd goal was perfectly set up by Becks

Beckham had a good game. England were alright. But I'm still not convinced (or impressed for that matter).

Cole's goal was taken very well; Crouch was gifted a superb ball by Becks and Owen stabbed one in too. End of story.

PS> McLaren... I think he is starting to act a bit like Sven.

Every time the director put McClaren's mug on screen the bloke looked like a man who just knows that the scythe is being sharpened. Even the goal "celebrations" were more relief than anything else.

So Crouch gets another yellow and earns himself a suspension, just as Rooney sits his out. Ok, so now we have a game of suspension tag going on. Hmmm, we're three goals to the good, erm, Crouchie's out for the next game, Rooney might get injured, erm... Owen still needs a bit more time... erm... who shall we bring on... err...

Inspiration of a sloth. On Valium.

That would be a good thing imo, Sven was a breath of fresh air as far as England managers go, well certainly in my memory. Actually picking players who are form (ok forget the last WC), watching a prem game nearly every week and leaving out some of the has beens big names.

Beckham was great, as one of those who were happy to see him dropped I'm glad he's back playing well again. The team seems to lack flare tho, Cole and Dyer showed that they could go round people but not that often. McClaren should take a chance with Bentley asap to give us an alternative when Becks gets injured.
