Premiership exchange

With so many people banging on over the years about the Premiership being the best league in the world, what about some sort of exchange for a season ? Maybe the team that finishes highest in the leagues outside of the European places in the Premiership and say the Bundesliga or Serie A swap for a season ? Ignoring the outcry of the fans of those particular teams for a moment, and assuming some sort of no relegation clause, I can't see why this shouldn't work.

Fans get routinely ignored anyway, so why's that an issue?

Please don't try and peddle the european super league (which is where such an idea would end up), you're only helping the big clubs even more!

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to promote a super league as I don't agree with the idea of one, just a simple single club exchange deal of some sort. Let's face it, it's never going to happen, I just thought it would be interesting.

The champions league is what you are after... It is league-ish, to a point, although the luck factor enters in the knockout stages...

The Champions League is a (very good) competition in it's own right, I was thinking more along the lines of a team from one of the bigger European leagues entering the Premiership for a year and seeing how they do, and vice versa. How would a team like Parma or Hamburg fare in the Premiership for example, and how would a team like Newcastle or Spurs do in Serie A or the Bundesliga ?

I've been watching the italian football on tv (channel no. 5 - Inter milan v Udinese and cagliari v Juventus) revently and thought the quality was appaling....for a team who won the Serie A last year easily (inter) they were clueless and I was thinking that any half decent prem team would have beaten them easily. yes they have good players but they seem to rely on luck, diving at all opportunities, and individual moments of brilliance to achieve anything.

I understand that this is hardly conclusive after seeing only 2 games, but thats the impression I got. I will be interested to see how the italian teams get on in the Champions League this season.
