Has Maclaren lost the plot, if he ever had one. We seem to be going backwards with him, no future planning, just try to win the next game. Heskey was crap years ago,so along with Beckham, Neville, James, Robinson should not be in the squad. In a way would like us not to qualify and get rid of the worst manager we've ever had, and we've had some tossers.

I think Heskey is the worst footballer ever to put an England shirt on, including all replicas.
I ing hate the shit fat useless good for nothing .
I hate Steve Mclaren even more now.
It's not like there are no decent English strikers out there.
Without even thinking about it I could name probably 17000 better alternatives.
ing Heskey.

Well if he wants real firepower up front, why doesn't he switch to a 4-3-3 and play Steve Bull, Lineker and Gazza up front. I'm sure they've got a few games left in them. rolleyes

You might actually want to check ou the stats on Phil Neville. Not extravagent, but actually very strong player, (in the prem, anyway).

I couldn't quite believe this when I read it in The Times. They are saying that he went for Heskey because Owen plays better with him and the team and implied that owen had asked for him.

Give him his due, he played bloody well! And I think that was the best England performance I've seen for a few years, even allowing for the unambitious opposition.

Don't we do better when Gerrard is playing and Lampard isn't.

Went to watch today. Fantastic Game and Hesky played well apart from that shot over the bar. Thought Micah Richards and Wright Phillips played very well together down the right and also scored our Goals. It went a little flat when AJ came on as with the two similiar strikers there is no strength in holding the ball up and winning it in the air but the game was won by then. Maybe we need to change the play more if these two play.

Going again on Wednesday which hopefully we will win but I am sure it will be tougher.

I thught it didn't make sense bringing on AJ for Heskey. 2 lightening quick strikers would not benefit so much, although AJ does run after EVERY ball, so deserves credit for that. I thought Lescott would get a chance though. Would have been the ideal game to get him tried and tested.

Spot on.

I think McLaren deserves some credit too. Took some balls to include Heskey in the team. Proves to me that he does what he wants and won't be led by certain supporters.

Nice to be upbeat for a change.

If Crouch isn't available and you need a big man up front then I don't think we have many choices do we? I though Emile played really well. At the end of the day he isn't a bad player; it's a confidence/head thing. He's been unplayable in some games and then goes AWOL for the next three. Stan Collymore was similar.

B******s - Owen had more to do with Heskey playing. MacClaren couldn't pick his nose.

I agree that Owen picked Heskey. But McLaren still had to sign off on it which shows some courage because if it hadnt worked he would have been slaughtered in the press.

Before the game I wasn't sure whether I would have prefered us to lose, so the ginger nonentity would be fired, or win bc I'm desperate for us to qualify. In the end I guess I'm an England supporter more than I am a tt hater. The trouble is if we qualify by some fluke with Mcwr in charge we will have no chance in the tourney and he'll be safe for the world cup qualifiers. I guess the best we can hope for is a stray bus.....
