I'm basing Bisping's wrestling and ground game off the Sonnen fight, where to be fair I thought he won that fight.

I'm going to go and watch it again now as you have me second guessing!
Tell us what you think once you have. Another factor is that Stann almost certainly hits harder than Sonnen though his wrestling is nowhere near that level.
To be fair the first round Sonnen took him down about 4 times but Bisping got back up straight away. I thought Bisping took him down during the first couple of rounds but he definitely didnt! haha. Bisping control up against the cage was really good though.

The actual stand up fighting in the first two rounds were pretty scrappy, so yeah I agree with you now, it could get messy for Bisping.

Final round was all Chael, sitting on top of him and out manoeuvring him on the ground. Bisping managed to get up eventually and actually take Chael down and hit him with some elbows for the last 10 seconds. So, he may be able to take Stann down in the later rounds if he's tired him out.

I can see why you think he'll get KO'd now.
It's funny but, after watching the Countdown show and comments on MMA Live about how much better Bisping is getting after moving to America we're almost meeting in the middle.

The reason I fear a KO is that his chin isn't impervious and Stann hits hard enough that I think he could do that either on the feet or from ground and pound.

Bisping vs Stann wasn't bad. Pretty even all told.

The 125lbers though, they're ridiculous! Mighty Mouse is just insanely fast from start to finish. Like a martial arts toddler on amphetamines.

Not a bad main event, pretty much as expected. As a long time fan of Vitor, I was hoping he was going to give jones' arm the Frank Mir treatment in the 1st though hehe

Hope there's no long term effects on Jones arm from that submission manoeuvre.

A good show all round - I was happy anyway.

And the next one looks very interesting - Bonner Vs Silva?

Certainly a snappier name than ' Please don't make Anderson fight Weidman, regards, the Silva management team' hehe

Could be fun though, Bonnar's a tough guy. Always enjoy his fights, even if he is perhaps towards the end of his career I'll always feel obliged to watch him after that TUF final with Forrest Griffin.

Spotted this odd little number on Twitter while watching the, fight - Sonnen & Bonnar 'Psychotherapy'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGb6nPwESKE - They really do need to figure a TV show out for Chael.

Yep totally agree, I really enjoyed the whole card. Actually thought some of the prelims were very exciting. Have to give credit to mighty mouse I thought he would lose but he won fair and square. Bisping fought the smart fight I hoped he would and made Stann looks one dimensional and lacking ideas. Bisping said in an interview he knows he isnt them most gifted fighter but he has guts, smarts and great cardio. Dunno why but I wanted Bones to tap out when Vitor got the arm bar. I have no reason to dislike Jones, it's more that a loss might shake things up a bit in a division he is clearing out. Anyway, roll on more TUF episodes and looking forward to the Nottingham card on saturday.

A decent show overall - Jones again almost totally dominant apart from the near submission, the physical advantages in reach and height and that use of kicks seems almost unsurmountable at the moment.

Bisping really amazed me - all respect to the guy a really good performance against a vey strong, dangerous opponent. In some respects I think it perhaps his best performance - level of opponent taken nto account. Hope he does get a title shot now.

As for Silva Boner all I can think is why? What is the point...

Lost Beemer - warm up for the Jones/Silva Superfight. I think UFC200 has a nice ring to it...

Yes, but a warm up? Probably be more like a cool down! What on earth has Bonner still got left to trouble Silva? total mis-match imho

To make Silva feel comfortable at the weight, and to get the public buy-rate up. [/cynic]

I can see all sort of advantages for Silva but can't help thinking it's short changing fans, esp those on ppv or who maintain a subscription to ESPN for the privilege. Maybe I'll be proven wrong.

Just watching episode 2 of the Contender UFC show (the main US based one) and finding the insights into the training and the different approaches interesting. I love Wittman's encouraging and clear, concise stand up coaching.

I quite like the match up. Sure, it's one of the sillier ones that we're probably only seeing because UFC fighters all seem to be a bit injury prone of late, but Bonnar's still a good opponent I reckon - Silva's not going to be knocking him out in hurry and he's proven he's not an easy guy to submit.

So the way I see it, we either get a boring fight where Silva dominates and gets the decision, or we get something pretty special with one or the other getting KO'd or submitted. However unlikely the latter is, I still like that it's a possibility - particularly with a guy like Bonnar whose record doesn't tell the whole story, and who probably knows that unless he does something incredible it'll probably be the last fight of this caliber that he gets.

Of course, I'm expecting Silva will dominate and get the decision, but much like Belfort vs Jones, I love that there's a chance we'll see something crazy happen. Old dogs and all that smile

Overall not a bad card. Enjoyed the uppercut knock out, I thought up til then one punch was being out struck. Great KO though. Really please for Hardy too, he has matured I think and learned a more rounded game. Good win against a dangerous opponent. Struve is quite good fun to watch, you never really know what he is going to do, head kick, elbow or crazy submission. Good win over a highly rated fighter. More UFC action on saturday browne v bigfoot!
