I'm with you on both predictions actually. I think Conor will pick mendes off and will stop him. I think rory is a really good all round fighter, lawler has the edge in power in his hands but I think rory will get the win maybe by decision. He is a smart fighter and if he sticks to the right tactics (use his jab and take lawler down) I think he might edge it.

As an Irish man of course I want to see Conor doing well. Just wish he would shut his mouth until he has actually achieved something and won a title. Its embarrassing.

Harsh man harsh, why shouldn't somebody believe they are the best, talking trash now gets him a shot at achieving something quicker than if he kept his mouth shut and worked his way up.I'm Irish too and I love it he has backed up everything he said and has thrust UFC and MMA into the limelight.Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I feel the opposite I'm proud an Irishman and fellow Dubliner has in a few years gone from nobody to arguably the biggest UFC star ever.My son (5yr old),who knows nothing of UFC said looking at the lineups he would win because of his screaming pose(the rest had stoney faces),I'm not a big mma fan but if he makes the sport more recognisable with his antics(and backs it up of course)surely that's a good thing and nothing to be embarrassed about.
Just my 2 cents no offence intended.

Anyone else thought McGreggor looked like a 60yr old suffering from AIDS that had been living rough on the streets for the last two yrs at the weigh ins last nite?

Evening.

Excited.

Conor looked bloody gaunt and not good, but I'm sure will be come come fight time.

Cannot wait for tonight's cards. Really, really, hope Conor smashes Mendes, just want him to live up to the hype.

The beer is flowing, food is plentiful, vodka awaits and we're planning a proper night of it biggrin

Also, anyone got any good links/streams?

Not for me, I'm fully subscribed to Sky/BT and am billed the monthly GDP of a small African nation for my trouble, but a friend needs...

Ta muchly.

About the fight last night:

Conor looked very comfortable in the stand-up, he was very loose and had his arms low. Perhaps a bit too cocky. Once he got taken to the ground he did take some elbows but Chad was in full guard pretty much most of the time and not progressing. It seemed that the kicks may have damaged Chad's ribs as he was wincing, breathing hard and trying hard to shield himself. I knew it wouldn't go 5 rounds once I saw how bad Chad was dealing with Conor in the striking game.

The real question is whether Aldo would be more effective on the ground. It's still a bit of an unanswered question how much ground game Conor has.

The accuracy and power of his striking was excellent, really looking forward to seeing how a fight with Aldo would play out.

I would be surprised if Aldo tried to take it to the ground. That said, he's nothing like the wrestler Mendes is, and presumably Conor will continue to improve his take down defence and practice working off his back in case he ends up fighting Mendes again or Edgar.

It was a great card, every fight was good.

Lawler vs. MacDonald was brutal. MacDonald completely out of it after the fight.

I backed Mendes before the fight against McGregor and the first round and most of the second went exactly how I thought the whole fight would go, but fair play to McGregor for stopping him.

I saw a pic which had the Judge's score card and MacDonald was winning that fight and Lawler needed to get the stoppage.

At what point can we ditch spoilers? It happened over 8 hours ago now.

Have stayed off the thread all day until I had a chance to watch it. What a card, both mains were superb. Thought there were a couple of good wars lower down too.

Very happy with the result!!

Chad certainly pushed him but I don't think he took enough out of the ground work. He totally folder after the right/left. I was a bit surprised.

Macdonald/Lawler was tremendous. I think Rory did well to push Robbie as hard as he did. Lawler is just so good at getting back into after being hurt. Fair play to him

Great title fights!

Two great fights, I wonder what would have happened had Mendez got to the bell, there was 3 seconds of that round left. I think Rory could have finished lawler when he was hurt and will forever bare the scar, literally.
