Lucia Ryker is/was the Ali/Mayweather of womens boxing and really was incredibly skilled... Here she is taking Jane to school for 8 rounds...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydgmxIicNBY

but as you say Jane was nails, her dad was the care taker at my college - nobody dropped litter at our college wink As an 8 stone 17 year old I used to hang around their gym, quite frightening.
to be honest i never used to watch womens boxing at all....when laila ali fought frazier's daughter and all that....to me it was just gimmicky at the time but i do remember rijker as being respected greatly at that time when ,let's be honest, womens boxing was seen as a bit of a joke.

Medical suspension for Rousey http://www.foxsports.com/ufc/story/ronda-rousey-jo...

"Rousey's suspension is also for 180 days, unless she is cleared by a head CT scan that reveals no damage. She is not to fight again for 60 days and not to have contact for 45."

"Antonio Silva: 45 days no fight"

If I were advising Antonio I'd be saying "rest of life no fight". For a guy with such a big chin he doesn't seem to possess a very big chin anymore - third time in 4 he's been sparked cold by little more than a tap (says me who certainly isn't going to invite Frank Mir or Mark Hunt to tap me).

There's a Joe Rogan podcast with Dana and him on the plane on the way back to vegas, Dana was suggesting Valerie Laternou is pretty banged up and that Rhonda has some pretty gruesome cut on her inner lip that had emergency plastic surgery, she won't fight again for at least 9 months.

The Silva KO was so bad it looked like he was just in it for a quick payday.

I agree with whoever above said the Ronda KO was a bit...unfortunate. I guess if you get the opportunity for a fight ending shot, you don't hang about. Holm was comprehensively winning anyway.

Really looked like Ronda got emotional. Flailing round the ring, chasing after a decorated striker does not have the ring of "strategy" about it!

Should line up a few interesting fights and it's not like she's going to be struggling to make ends meet any time soon.

Overall not a bad card really.

Does anyone know why this saturdays UFC fight night card isnt on BT sport? It's the Rose Namajunas v Paige Van Sant card. I didn't expect last weekends Benson Henderson v Masvidal fight to be on as it was in south Korea and probably not an area BT sport got for their rights package. But this weekends fight is from Vegas, I thought all the US cards were on BT sport? Bit gutted if it's not on.

I think it's Fight Pass exclusive.

Yes, that one is.

Rumours going around the MMA press about fighters throwing fights. Maybe the Reebok deal isn't so great...

Good, should be a couple of crackers on UFC 194 at least... Rockhold vs Weinman could be epic.

The whole Reebok thing is a mystery to me, I understand the American business model of sport franchising and I think that's what they're trying to copy here, create a series of franchised gyms that can grow huge fan followings and build businesses on their rep feeding money back into the UFC, basically what Reebok have done with Crossfit, I think that's what the last season of TUF was about (failed for me as entertainment though) it's also what Al Hayman is trying to do in boxing to a lesser extent. I'm no expert on fighting or fighters but the people I've met who fight seem like individual types to me, usually quite self sufficient and stubbornly self reliant, sort of goes with the territory - they're not the sort to show loyalty to people who are trying to get one over on them or have bleeding heart liberal ideals about sharing the wealth... It's not a team game. But what the feck do I know? Dana White's been right up to now, except for all those eggs in the Rhonda basket obviously.

Rousey must have really had her mouth mashed up http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/35036542

I think she had plastic surgery on her lip as it was split quite badly, so its likely more about that? I guess its more important for the female fighters/film stars to ensure they don't have too many visible scars.

I'd love to see him in the ring for the 30 seconds he would last

I wouldn't bet against him, but it's all hypothetical he'll never do it for real, maybe some kind of exhibition bks if the money is good enough, for all the problems a Cain Valasquez or Werdum could give Fury they wouldn't fancy his movement, hand speed and size.

I agree to me there was a massive difference between how she looked at weigh in and then on fight night.
I always find her attractive at the weigh-ins, but she looks like a potato during the fights. smile

Regardless, the loss was no surprise. Her game seemed one-dimensional. She may be a Judo champion, but she never really showed that she was competent enough in other areas. The hype machine is what it is.

Luke Rockhold is a bad melon farmer but I can't see Weidman loosing.

Connor vs Aldo will be close I think, it all depends on how Aldo has changed or reacted to the new regime of testing, if you know what I mean, part of me wants Aldo to win, he's been a great champion part of me wants Connor to win, he's a great showman... Only one way to find out... Fiiiiiiight!

Pity tonight's fights aren't on uk TV. Namajunas vs VanZant especially.
Guess I'll be hitting the torrents in the morning trying to find it whilst avoiding the results.

I see the Saul Rogers vs Artem Lobov TUF finale has been canned due to SR telling fibs on his US visa application. Shame for the lad, he looked like a prospect.
