It's fascinating sport and the "art" is that there's no right or wrong way, 5 years ago you'd be laughed at for suggesting sport karate would be making a big return to high level mma, but i think as the juicing regulations start to bring these guys back to being reasonably close to humans and training methods improve we'll see much more technical mma and head and body kicking become really important.FredClogs said:

I'm still waiting for somebody to catch somebody with a decent crescent kick. I can only recall Anderson Silva using one in a fight but they can be really effective against somebody who is more hands orientated and if set up well, can catch an opponent's slip very effectively (having been on the receiving end once or twice!).ben5575 said:

Would be nice. As for Silva, he's the only one to have caught people with a number of technical moves that you'd normally think only worked in films. FredClogs said:
Yes, an old guy with one eye vs an old guy with one leg... Hmmmm...
His leg is stronger now than it has probably ever been. And he fought proper vs. Diaz. No silliness, and Diaz's face looked like a pizza in the end. Still probably the greatest technical fighter of all time in MMA (in my book).Tibau banned for two years.... http://mmajunkie.com/2016/02/following-appeal-with...

Cain Velasquez injured shocker?
I think a lot of these UFC guys are habitually over trained and have been for many years, even with the added extra pharmaceutical aids they're no longer allowed, but let's face it Cain's body has seen enough.

What did Cain do?

Shouldn't laugh though, given the context - seems like he was near death before he even entered the ring. Again, poor controls over weight cuts, but what can be done?
Pre fight doctor checkup? Force & have a medical team monitor fighters to sustain their fighting weight for 72 hrs before the fight with the official weigh in remaining the day before?Shouldn't laugh though, given the context - seems like he was near death before he even entered the ring. Again, poor controls over weight cuts, but what can be done?
I think any solution will face criticism but something has to be done.
