If Diaz does get the call up, Dana and the UFC will have to make sure the trashtalk starts straight away and that the hype train can stay on the rails.
Diaz being who he is though, is probably typing up several tweets now aimed at CM to fuel the fire.

Just been told Cerrone has formally requested (i.e asked Dana on twitter maybe) to get the call up. I don't do twitter maybe someone could check?

Ceronne's manager says he's asked for it. He's 174lb at present and he'll "get down as much as he could'...

Nate's last tweet was on the 15th, saying Alvarez is scared to fight.

Gutted about DOS Anjos think it would have been a good fight. Can Cerrone fight again so soon? Would rather see that fight than Diaz as I suspect it would be a tougher right for Conor than Diaz. (I like Connor but want to see him properly tested)

Well that is hugely disappointing. Conor was going to get his arse handed to him. Nate Diaz doesn't deserve it at all. Not sure how the Diaz brothers get the big fights but Nate's record really isn't good enough to warrant fighting Conor.

Yep, Diaz Vs Connor. It'll be a shellacking.

Nate Diaz has some pretty wicked BJJ skills - this is sport, anything can happen...

I didn't realise it'll be at 170. That's two weight divisions above where CM holds his belt. nuts

Yes... So they'll be no weight cutting for either of them I wouldn't have thought, interesting. Nate has 3 inches in height and a 2 inch reach advantage, but I'm not sure that's going to make a great deal of difference, he's most likely going to want to stand in the pocket and trade or grapple anyway.

Opening odds are...

Conor McGregor (-300) vs. Nathan Diaz (+258)

I'm not sure I understand US betting odds but I think that means Conor is the massive favourite.

Dana needs to get a grip on this problem. If fighters are going to pussy out with spurious injuries (like Aldo's rib), the belt should still go to the winner of the fight. Whether it's the stand in, or the challenger. I'm getting sick of looking forward to a fight and it drawing near, only to have the champ pussy out last minute.
Why is it Conor ALWAYS seems to make it to the fight, and his opponent doesn't, on more than many occasions?

If one was being cynical, it's a rather handy way for Dana to eke out the absolute maximum $$$ wouldn't you say? No no. No THIS is the big fight you've all been waiting for. Promise. Bought a ticket? PPV? Ah shucks guys, fighter's injured. No no. No seriously, the NEXT fight is going to be the big one, better get your tickets now.... Rinse and repeat.

I think it equals Conor being 1/3 (3 to 1 on) fav in usual UK betting odds.

Ronda was 1.13 for the Holly Holm fight which is 2/15 (15/2 ON, or 7½/1 On)

That's pro sport in general, man u play Chelsea et al 3 or 4 times a year but if you listened to sky sports you'd think each game was the pinnacle of the sport etc...

Do not under estimate what these top mma guys put themselves through in training, it's a brutal sport in the cage but the fight camps and training would appear almost tortuous to most of us.

I'm watching "The Smashing Machine" Mark Kerr doc on youtube, puts things in a bit of perspective!

"more than many occasions"? How many times has it happened?
