Just been on another site's forum. Is it right that M1 Global cannot actually affor to pay Fedor's wages hence the whole co-promotion lark?

almost certainly, m1 arent exactly a big org, outwith italy and russia theyre basically nobodies and fedor will only really want to fight in Japan or America. If M1 had the money to pay for fedor etc why wouldnt they have stepped in and funded the cancelled affliction card and billed it as an m1 global promotion?

They have 1 card to play and thats fedor. The UFC arent daft enough to give them the oxygen of publicity, will strikeforce? I doubt it. I predict m1 will fold or give up on promoting in the states within a couple of months.

Cor, they're gonna look a right bunch of plums if so. I had a chat with someone who commented on Fedor's apparent humbleness. He reckons he will serve his 3 fights with M1, see that m1 are not becoming the major player in the fight business they seem to want to be and then come to the UFC. I stated my fear that he will then be past his prime as he's 32 now. Lesnar is also 32 and just starting his career. Liddell was the same age during his run at the top too.

To be honest the whole situation is annoying me now.

It certainly is. A nice long nap.

As for Fedor, 32 isn't all that old as he's never had any real injuries other than his thumb. I hope he fights Overeem, Werdum and Barnett on his existing contract then goes to the UFC to do some giant killing.

Only problem would be if by some fluke he lost against one of those three, his value would plummet enormously and Dana would use it to devalue him.

If he has any sense his only option is to move to the UFC immediately and take a Lesnar superfight for untold millions of dollars.

When he loses to Lesnar tongue out then he can go and basically "retire" with M-1, if they're still going.

But other than Lesnar who have they got for a big fight for him? He's already beaten Big Nog twice, Cro Cop (when he was at his peak and was actually mixing up his boxing and kicks). Randy?

If they gave him a one fight deal to take on Lesnar he could then go on to fight some great guys but I don't see the UFC being too pleased with that.

One option would be for the UFC to pick up some other great heavyweights but with them being based in the USA there are a few chemical issues that would need sorting out re Barnett and Overeeem, Although they are planning on putting on some shows in Japan and Korea.

Good point, suppose it would depend if he won or lost against Lesnar, loss means work your way back up against maybe Carwin or Velasquez, or rematch for the fun of it against Cro Cop, if he did manage to beat Lesnar though there isnt much they could offer immediately, perhaps Machida and A Silva could be tempted to step uo to HW division, especially as fedor isnt a large HW.

Now Machida vs Fedor would be something, Machida is incredible!! not sure how Fedor would handle someone so skilled.

Machida is not a big LHW though. Still, I would love to see that fight.

Bloody hell! He's signed for Strikeforce! And he's gonna fight Overeem, Rogers and Werdum! He should destroy all of them to be honest.

Also, as Strikeforce is free on TV exactly what is M1 Global getting half of?

What a dissapointment, I really wanted to see what he was capable of in the UFC, when you consider how the UFC in a sense defeated Cro Cop anything would have been possible with Fedor, greatness or total destruction.

I think that might be that now, he'll fight those three over the next year or two, then if he wins I suppose there's a slim possibility of going to the UFC, but I recon he's passed up the best oppurtunity he'd ever get to go to the UFC and therefore wont ever end up going in the future.

I wonder how stringent Strikeforce will be with testing their fighters? If Barnett got caught it could certainly happen with someone like Overeem, could make it a very slim HW division.

There is one great fight for him in the UFC and I can't see Dana signing him for a one fight contract. After three fights he's out of the M-1 contract and might go to the UFC, they may have a better HW division by then.

Maybe one great fight, if the UFC however didnt give him an instant title shot there could be a few, like Carwin, Velasquez, even Gonzaga might be a good battle, rematch with Cro Cop, then after a few fights he gets a title shot (if he wins those of course), could've been done like that and given the UFC to build up his name amongst the less hardcore fans, and then the title fight would've been an even bigger occassion (except if he lost one of the tune up fights, that would be disastorous to the plan).

So he'll fight those three HW's in Strikeforce, then what? Strikeforce dont have the depth or money to get in the new up and coming HW's, the ones that look like the future of the division will go to the UFC. The UFC's division will grow whereas Strikeforce will either fold within a year or sign cans.

i think that Fedor's management have been a bit dim here.

As he has signed for strikeforce, that gives him Overeem (not faught top level mma in 2 years) Werdum & rogers, and what after that?

IF after those fights he leaves strikeforce and to go to UFC, it puts UFC in a far stronger position as there is no competition for him to go to, hence will get a lot less money.
