It was strange to see Pettis get so convincingly beaten. Just goes to show how much styles make fights, he took a heavy blow in the first and got cut but even before that he looked a shadow of the guy I thought he was based on the last few outings, I don't know how many head kicks he attempted in the five rounds but I'll bet it was close to single figures.

Great card, really enjoyed it. Sweeet left hook from Ross! Enjoyed most of the fights, some top performances!

Just watched the prelims. How good did Dariush look? Surely one to watch.

Yes, some good fights, both titles changing hands. Strange that Dana was tweeting about the ladies title change, but stayed very quiet about Pettis.

The fight night last weekend was OK - except the main event. Poor at best, and good to see Big John loose his temper and fine a point...

yes

A few decent fights but the main was so so poor

I can't remember if it was in the prelims or the main program but also one of the worst stoppages I have ever seen, shocking

That was terrible. And then the sodding 'winning' fighter was saying that he felt him tap - shocking.

To be fair to Maia he dominated. On the other hand...ARARRgHGHGRHGRHGAHR. So horrible to watch and the last round was an utter disgrace. Up there with Werdum vs Overeem for sheer cringe.

I just don't see how it is fair.

OK, he was tired, clearly, and I'm not sure there is anything they can do about it either but just so unfair for laflare, who looked pretty good just not good enough in the first few rounds. IMHO points should have come off sooner.

As far as the fight goes whilst I sympathise with (and was rooting for) la flare I think it's a case of tough titty. Get better at takedown defense And getting up.

In terms of the deliberately falling over and taking ages to get up I think it is Outrageous. What you can so about it I don't know. I think big John was right to take a point. Perhaps doing so earlier might have forced maia to stand. Who knows. Either way it's an embarrassment to maia and the ufc.

The main event of the Fight Night wasn't massively exciting but for an MMA nerd it was geat as there was some beautiful technique on display. with regards to Maia's cardio it has to be remembered that it was only chnaged to a 5 round fight shortly before the event after the original main event was cancelled so it's not surprising he gassed

Drew Dober got screwed, that ref is a moron

superb flying triangle by Pepe

I see the hype is already building on the Mcgregor vs Aldo fight, will be one of the few events i bother staying up to watch live

Brazilian Athletics Commission have ruled the Dober fight a no-contest thankfully.

Aldo Vs Conor.... It's either going top be brilliant or terrible.

JUst seen an advert for Spike TV coming to Sky. From Channel 5.
It had some MMA stuff on there, that would be UFC?

Spike has nothing to do with UFC anymore. They will broadcast BAMMA though.

Speaking about strange shows.... I see Poland is retarded enough to allow Cro-cop on to a show? UFC, hang your head. that man needs medical care, not a contract.

I've not watched any UFC for a couple of years now, how good is the Irish guy fighting Aldo?

Connor? I guess we'll see.... he's dismantled everyone thus far, but he's only fought one top five guy - Chad Mendes is up in contention after taking out Riccado Lamas in one round at the weekend....

He's either going to monster it, or get monstered. I'm not sure which....

Thoughts on the Al Iaquinta vs Jorge Masvidal anyone? Was a good fight, i thought Masvidal had done enough. Funny post decision reactions from both. biggrin

R1 should have sealed it, but I agreed with the result - Ragin' Al was the more active fighter for R2 + 3. But I understand why the crowd was upset.
