I don't think he could do anything. he was trying to pressure forward but manny just turned angles on him and continued peppering him. when Bradley tried to counter on the backfoot manny followed him and let loads of shots go that tim just cope with. cracking performance by pacquiao and a perfect example of educated pressure

Interestingly, I read an interview with Freddie Roach the other day where he admitted he hadn't seen Bradley's game plan of going for the big KO coming. I'll see if I can find it again.

Anyway, just starting on SS2, a couple of Ringside specials; one on Larry Holmes and the other on Joe Calzaghe.

This wasn't it but it contains some of the comments made by Roach:

Big card on BoxNation tonight; Quillin vs Konecny for the WBO Middleweight title, Porter vs Malignaggi for the IBF Welterweight title, then Hopkins vs Shumenov in the IBF/WBA Light Heavyweight unification fight. Scott Quigg fight on SS2 as well...

Just turned on and watching the Quigg fight - have I missed Crolla v Murray? Or is it still to come?

Superb from Quigg; didn't realise he had that kind of power...in both hands too! I though maybe Frampton had edged ahead of Quigg a fraction but that has changed my mind - fingers crossed for a massive unification fight between those two before the end of the year.

Great power as you say - looked compact and boxed with purprose from the start. Dynamite!

Well, there has been some memorably ridiculous scoring in the last few years and the 114-113 Shumenov scorecard is pretty close to the top of that pile. The only explanation I can think of is the judge must have thought Hopkins was the statuesque Central Asian-looking feller...but even then, how the hell did he only have a round in it?!?! As Steve Bunce pointed out, even the 116-111 score was a bit of a surprise.

Anyway, what can you say about Hopkins? Just magnificent, although Shumenov's slow pace, low lead hand and telegraphed movement gave Hopkins additional help that he probably didn't need but took full advantage of anyway. To still be a world champion - correction, unified world champion - just 10 months shy of his 50th birthday is just phenomenal...

another excellent wall to wall weekend. Crolla and Murray was excellent, if brutal; heart in mouth stuff.

Quigg - excellent; now has me wondering if he could do Frampton.

Porter... what a job he did on Malignaggi!

And Hopkins! What a fighter; cruelly exposed Shumenov (and the ludicrous judges - stinkers abound, get these fools out of the sport for God's sake) in a sniper like performance.

Saw that. Great punching again to finish it, but he looked vulnerable as well.

It really doesn't matter who they throw in with him. At this point he is practically untouchable. In this last decade he has been less aggressive and far more methodical about the sport. He still gets the stoppages he used to but nowadays there is practically no chance of any return fire getting through. For me he is the pinnacle of heavyweight boxing and would be up there at the very top with the greatest champs in history

I accept he adapts to the challenge in front of him. and as such you cant deny both brothers have been very successful.

but given the caliber, and more aggressive fighters of the past. i feel both would have come unstuck
size and strenght only go so far

shame the opposition around is so poor I know partly it is due to vlads defensive first approach and awkwardness but that guy looked like a technically inept club fighter/brawler as fury put it a walking punchbag.Him and his brother would have given most of the great heavyweights in history problems. But we must remember he is not fighting dangerous guys like fraziers foremans etc and im sure those guys would have been able to get to his suspect chin at some point.Even though fury can match vlad in a few areas I still think he would struggle to get to him but self beleif is something he does not lack and he certainly would not just be there for the pay day will be interesting if he gets past del boy which I think he will and gets a crack at him

I accept they're very successful, but unbelievably boring, don't hype up/promote their fights, I know the heavyweight division is dead, but I just hope somebody sparks him out soon.
