Its strange that the heavyweight world champ is a white chap and not a black chap.
Its often the case in physical, explosive sports like boxing, sprinting etc that the black lads tend to dominate
I think for heavyweights it matters less as all men at that size are dangerous. Its often the case in physical, explosive sports like boxing, sprinting etc that the black lads tend to dominate

boxing has always been dominated by the poorer economic classes. at various points in it's history there has been dominance in America by the desparate irish immigrants but at other times there was a more eastern European/jewish dominance. go back far enough and british fighters ruled the world!. It was basically the hungriest(literally) fighters that had more to fight for,or in our case the fact we invented "modern" boxing and so had a march on everyone else!.Its often the case in physical, explosive sports like boxing, sprinting etc that the black lads tend to dominate
I take the points about fast twitch muscle fibres that are more densely packed in the frames of athletes of African descent which leads to the performance of the black "slicksters" not being replicated in fighters of any other race. but this leads on to the prominence of boxing in any particular country/continents culture.
The slick black fighters you tend to think of (like sugar ray robinson, ray leonard, mayweather etc etc) are all American. the fighters from Africa tend to be a whole other ethnic group who on the whole are tougher but not as quick as the American fighters of African decent. On the whole, however, a particular country's amateur program has possibly the biggest effect on future dominance in the sport.
Russia's amateur program is right up there with that of the Cuban's (who very rarely turn pro for the obvious political reasons) and has been for the last twenty years. It's no surprise today, then, that there is more and more prevelance in the pro ranks of these eastern block fighters.

Anyone watch Ringside last night?
Froch looked a bit more comfortable than before the first fight, and Groves was trying quite hard to get to him. I think Groves came across less well this time, but he had a few good points to make (from the point of view that the fight was unjustly stopped etc- even Froch said that the fight was stopped too soon).
Seems to be a lot more respect between them this time around, but Groves' tactics of trying to wind Froch up is wearing a bit thin now. Can't wait for the fight though- I'm still gonna go for Groves win by KO before round 5 (I may have said before round 4 earlier in this thread).
Looking forward to the fight in the early hours of Sunday- Mayweather/Maidana & Khan/Collazo. Broner is fighting too, and I hope he gets destroyed- I dislike him a lot, even more than Bellew.

Hes got far too much Mayweather cockyness, without having the same skills or record to back it up.Have to agree, seeing him sat on his backside would be great. I imagine Mayweather would have liked to have him under his wing unbeaten, and promoted his career after his own had ended.
Not quite the same having a beaten fighter, so their wont be the same Mayweatheresq Aura

I feel the same about Kahn. I love seeing him get whipped.Froch looked a bit more comfortable than before the first fight, and Groves was trying quite hard to get to him. Bet he won't be fighting Breidis ever again - he was the first to expose his glass chin.
Cocky, arrogant little bloke.
