Never watched the fight, got a bit of a fever, so didn't manage to get up.

Read about it on espn. Kovalev too much for Hopkins.
Watch the highlights in a bit.

Wonder what now for Hopkins? Retirement or one more fight so he can go out with a win.

A great win for Kovalev. He proved he has stamina to fight the full 12 rounds and that he could effectively cut the ring off. But one thing I will say is that as good as this win was, he faced a gun shy Hopkins who looked as though he turned up just to make it the full 12 rounds. Both guys are fantastic fighters but this was definitely a passing if the torch fight.

I'd like to see Kovalev continue from where he left off in this fight and I'd be keen to see how his chin fairs against some big hitters as the only time Hopkins let his hands go he hurt him.

For me, this should be the end of Hopkins career and he should pass his vast knowledge of the sweet science on to the younger up and coming fighters as a trainer.

Kovalev shifted well and closed the distance expertly. You could see him edging nearer as early as round one.
Personally i really like the guy but i cant get it out of my mind how beterbiev boxed his head off in the amateurs and ggg flattened him in sparring. He does a great job off cutting the ring down but i dont trust his defence 100%. Hopkins isnt a big puncher but definately stung and hurt him on a couple of occasions.
Kovalev beats stevenson but loses to beterbiev i think.

Pleased to see Bradley Saunders added to the PPV card on 22 November, he's a top fighter, Matchroom seem to keep their fighters active which is always a good thing.

It's also another example of shrewd strategic thinking by Matchroom. It gives them a great opportunity to establish a strong foothold in the North-East, just in the same way they've done in Liverpool by signing Bellew, three of the Smith brothers, etc and Hull through Luke Campbell and Tommy Coyle. Eddie Hearn is already talking about staging a massive show in Newcastle in April next year...

I always found it strange Liam didn't sign, certainly doesn't seem as busy as the other lads particularly Callum. Every body is leaving FW and he joins?

Oh dear, not often you here Buncey being bashfull, hope Bellew is on his best for this fight, it would be a shame if he winds himself too tight.

You're right,it shouldn't have been made into a big thing but did you really expect anything more? He was thrown in the deep end too soon and then stupidly took an immediate rematch and got blitzed out again.

With the exception of very few fighters, even the best in the business have to start somewhere taking on lesser challengers to hone their skills and even then they sometimes suffer setbacks. Maybe Price will never truely bounce back or maybe he's taking the long road to the top. I really do wish him all the best but I'm not sure he'll ever have what it takes to beat the top heavyweights. (It's easy for me to say that but going back 10-15 years ago it was pretty much agreed by most boxing experts that Wladimir Klitschko would get starched by any big banger he faces but Steward completely turned his career around and look at him now!).

You lucky bugger! Properly jealous.

What was the atmosphere like? I've always wondered just how intimidating the staredown must be when you have Vitali giving the opponent the cold hard stare over his brother's shoulder!

It was fking crazy fella.....never experienced anything like it before. Both brothers are like demi gods out here....the crowd were mental....and then shannon briggs turned up dressed like a spartan warrior and everyone went even more nuts. " lets go champ" screamed all over the place and security running rou d after him trying to stop him getti g too close.
Stare down was electric.these are two big bds. Ive been around david price and he is big. Klitschko looks like he is hewn from marble. A collosus of a man.

Cant wait for tomorrow now!!!! Proper wound up for this...second row baby!! Im pretty sure i will feel the impact of the shots through my feet!

Ill try and stick more pictures up as i get them
