Boxing legend Evander Holyfield is sitting 20 meters away from me in the BA Lounge in T5. Am trying to pluck up the courage to say hello! Feel like a pu$$y, he's a genuine hero of mine.
UPDATE: Thought I'd never get this opportunity again, went up to him and asked if he was Mr Holyfield. He put his drink down and said hello. Shook his hand (feck me the man has grip) and he obviously wasn't in a chatty mood so left him to it. No entourage, no big team, just him. Feel awestruck. Apparently in London for a convention and didn't say anything else.

Blimey, it's all happening in the Middleweight division at the moment...!
Looks like Andy Lee's first defence of his WBO belt will be against Peter Quillin in the US. Apparently, Billy Joe Saunders has been paid to step aside for a guaranteed shot at the winner and it's been suggested that the money for Lee to fight Quillin was so good that he would have vacated anyway if the WBO had insisted that the mandatory against Saunders went ahead. Tough first defence for Lee but a top quality match-up!
Elsewhere, the IBF have stripped Jermain Taylor of his Middleweight title after pulling a gun on a family at a Martin Luther King Day parade
By the way, nice spot Fas

lee/quillan will be a cracker!!
as usual, my obsession with the heavyweights continues.....
wladimir faces the 10th unbeaten challenger of his reign in his next fight....
Bryant Jennings 19-0 at Madison square garden.
Jennings looking in great form beating unbeaten mike perez in his last fight and unbeaten artur szpilka in the fight before that.
up to this point I wasn't enamoured with Jennings although I took note when he beat liakhovich, he's looked good recently.
.....look at the photos..... he's got hands like a fistful of cocks!!!!

now just hold on a goddamn minute ladies..........I don't think I like what you're implying!!!!
all I was saying was....if you were to imagine trying to pick up five cocks in one hand it would look like you had a big freaky monster hand.a bit like Bryant Jennings appears to have.
...............i'll get me coat......

Martin Murray v GGG only 2 weeks away. Can't wait for that fight. GGG clearly the favourite, but...
But.... ?I see very little reason for the but, it's going to be another GGG demolition job.
I don't see a blowout win for golovkin but a systematic shut down in the second half of the fight. murray will emerge the loser......but will gain standing in a valiant defeat

Won: 29
Wins by KO: 12
Lost: 1
Drawn: 1
The wins by KO of 12 doesn't suggest he poses big power.
When it comes to size:
Murray | Golovkin | |
---|---|---|
HEIGHT | 183cm | 179cm |
WEIGHT | 160lbs | 160lbs |
For me Murray doesn't have any significant advantage in size.
The best I can see is Murray lasting 8 rounds but as a prediction I'm going for KO'ed in the 6th.

I'd agree I don't see Murray as a big KO artist, but I'd say he certainly has enough sting to make any opponent think twice about trying to walk through him. The problem for Murray, of course, is Golovkin doesn't necessarily need to walk through him to get to him...!

as it stands I really believe he beat Martinez and sturm comfortably (dropping Martinez with a beautiful counter). you could make a good argument that his record should read 31-0.
I believe murray can put 10-12 lb on by fight night wheras golovkin doesn't go up much. not that a 6 lb+ weight advantage has helped the heavyweights and cruiserweights that ggg has been knocking sparko in sparring !!!!!
i'd like to see murray make it to the final bell. I don't think he will. but I can see him running golovkin late and giving him a few problems along the way
