I'd agree with all of that. Froch is a warrior but he doesn't need to take punishment like that win/lose/draw at this stage in his career.
If Ward was an active fighter I would favour him to beat GGG but as we've seen nothing of him for the past few years there's no way on earth I could confidently pick him. Golovkin is a murderous puncher and really knows how to cut the ring off.
i would hate to see froch hurt. he's an old man now and given the way he fights, win or lose he'd take a tremendous amount of punishment. If Ward was an active fighter I would favour him to beat GGG but as we've seen nothing of him for the past few years there's no way on earth I could confidently pick him. of all the currently active fighters from light middle to light heavy......i'd agree...the only guy with a chance( a good chance!) is ward, his mastery of infighting would definately give ggg a lot to think about when trying to shut ward down and close him off at the corners. andre is the master of getting shots off while in close......but he's never been hit as hard as he would be against golovkin. would he shell up?? i'd like to find out!! i just wish he could sort this promotional st out

Again, completely agree with you. It's criminal that his career has been put on the back burner. If I were him, I wouldn't have waited out the contract, I would have done everything in my power to get out of the contract and fight again!of all the currently active fighters from light middle to light heavy......i'd agree...the only guy with a chance( a good chance!) is ward, his mastery of infighting would definately give ggg a lot to think about when trying to shut ward down and close him off at the corners. andre is the master of getting shots off while in close......but he's never been hit as hard as he would be against golovkin. would he shell up?? i'd like to find out!! i just wish he could sort this promotional st out

i think it's a rare thing to get such an offensive fighter who is never off balance. sure, when you're throwing as much as golovkin you ARE going to get hit a few times just by virtue of the fact that your hands spend so long away from guard and most of the fight buried in some poor fkers rib cage or bouncing off his head.....
but when he gets hit he's never really out of shape catching a shot that could topple an unbalanced guy. it really helps that his chin is from pure granite....
apparently he's never been down amateur or pro, contest or spar. that's some record right there and let's face it, if someone had managed to do it they'd be singing from the rooftops about it.
another terror story i remember was from hype igoe who was in max baer's dressing room prior to his fight with joe louis in '35. hype was asking max how he was feeling before the bout while he was getting dressed. a pale looking max apprently seemed distant, nodded and proceeded to put one sock on his left foot then the other sock on the same foot. he must have been absolutely bricking it!
Fascinating read, on reflection, perhaps similar to Michael Spinks v Tyson in 88. I remember watching an interview with Butch Lewis, He stated something like this "I went into Tyson's dressing room to make sure everything was ok! Tyson was punching holes in the wall minutes before the fight, he was going to fight 'my man'" Lewis daren't mention the dressing room destruction to Spinks when asked about "how Tyson's doing?" he was already crapping himself which was evident just walking to the Ring never mind in it....but when he gets hit he's never really out of shape catching a shot that could topple an unbalanced guy. it really helps that his chin is from pure granite....

For 4 or 5 years in the mid to late 80's Tyson was unique, yep Golovkin seems to have similar aura without maybe the menace at least visually, seems like a friendly nice chap.

I too would not like Froch to get hurt, if anyone can take it though Froch still could & can. He has a unique quality of being a natural super teak hard man that I've only ever seen several times over the years. Evander Holyfield is one, when met him & briefly spoke with 1 1/2 years ago just his look sent shivers down me another was Froch speaking to him in depth for over 10 minutes, both men have that kinda super hard aura that is difficult to put into words, plus the long layoff to recover from the past few years battles may help or go the other way maybe.
I don't think Rob would let him fight knowing he'd lose or risk his long term health/injury.
Ward, perhaps is another but he gets proper banged big early on I think its game over unlike Froch being banged the same. Both intriguing fights if either fought Golovkin. I think both fights will happen as they doesn't seem to be many credible challengers who could give him a decent fight at Middleweight left.

It's such a pisstake that Ward's career is wasting away.
'Was' wasting away. The contract issues were sorted out after with the estate of the deceased other party. He signed a new contract to be managed by Jay-Zs new sports management venture in Jan and is due back in the ring in April.
Everyone watch this. Gives me goosebumps. What a man.

Frankly it doesn't matter how poor Manny's ring entrance song is, it will still be a million times better than Mayweather's, assuming it'll be Lil Wayne accompanying him again...!

this Russian is too hard for his own good. eubank just can't put him away and in the latter rounds is in a street fight, although well ahead on my card
To be honest, I was slightly surprised Eubank took this fight straight off the back of his first defeat but, in fairness, he's bossed the fight right the way through and were it not for the grit of the Russian, would already be interim WBA champion...Edited by Birkin1932 on Saturday 28th February 21:42
