David Price is to fight Erkan Teper for European title in Liverpool in June.

Be interesting to see if he can come back against an opponent who can punch a bit. If his chin fails again that's pretty much career over.
decent unbeaten opponent but beating martin rogan and michael sprott doesn't mean you can beat a fighter of price's quality.....it's about time pricey got back on the horse proper.....and a win against an unbeaten guy for the european title is a fking good start!!

Meh, sparring shmarring. I'm not going to let these facts alter my opinions.

Made me chuckle when I heard Mayweather Snr's quote on a possible match with GGG, he said "Floyd ain't gonna fight no giant"
i fking love floyd senior....absolutely mental. my favourite encounter was when he sparred that loony kid charlie zelanoff who went on to get battered by wilder. charlie tried to sucker punch him so floyd absolutely ttted him.....and he's about 60 years old!!

Nice clip! Who jumps into the ring to dish out a beating after the sucker punch?

Brilliant. Who jumped into the ring with no gloves on to give him a pounding?

Turning that around, Price's record was of beating people such as Skelton, Audley Harrison and Sam Sexton. Are they really better than martin rogan and michael sprott?

I don't see any obvious difference in their records to say Price is a higher quality boxer. It's a big fight for them both and it could go either way. Price has power but if your his opponent you are going to be thinking if you plant one on his chin it's all over.

Not sure what to make of that Charlie guy, just watched a few videos and the guy seems to be a bit 'special'.

I think he's pretty fly for a white guy.

Im with fredclogs I think Froch can beat triple g or certainly give him all the trouble he can handle.Yes he can obviously bang but I just dont get the massive hype around the guy.And to compare him like some experts are to a peak Tyson well I dont see it Tyson was faster and more exsplosive and very hard to hit clean in his pomp where as Golovkin is fairly flat footted and from what I have seen quite easy to hit.I just feel that if Martin murray can go 11 rounds with him then Froch can beat this guy Froch has been places triple g has never been (yet as a pro)and as he seems to me to be the type that takes one to give one it could be interesting to see if he is happy to take carls shots as readily as all these other guys he is fighting(dont forget the shot the cobra took groves out with shots like that would test even the best chins in the world).

i was of the opinion that price's amateur credentials were far superior than that of teper but i must admit that while teper didn't medal at an olympic games he DID amass an incredible amateur record of :

2003 and 2004 West German Champion
2006 German Championships silver medal 2006
2008 World Military Championships silver medal

amateur record: 130-14-2

looks like we've got a fight on our hands!

i think a lot of the hype is because (as with lomachenko) we were all wetting ourselves at the prospect of such a stellar amateur turning pro. a world ams champion and an olympic silver medallist who could easily have got the nod for gold who retired with a record of 345-5.....

also, as an amateur he has beaten a who's who of current top pro's in the likes of andy lee, mat korobov, andre dirrell, lucian bute....the list goes on.

i think he is hyped a lot because his style is so exciting and i really do believe that he allows a fight to be exciting in a risk taking way in a manner that floyd mayweather or wladimir klitschko never would........and the yanks love that!!

There's no doubting GGG is the real deal, that 'chopping' right that he throws at the temple is a really unusual shot too, as you'd think it'd open him up, but it's just always thrown at the right time. His footwork is great, he can punch, the boy is good!

Froch 3 or 4 years ago, i'd fancy to give him hell, but he was noticeably slower against Groves and I don't care what anyone says, he still got lucky IMO with the KOs to a degree, but that's boxing.

Very hard fight for James De Gale this weekend, I can't say I know much about Dirrel but just read he's a natural Southpaw and a switch hitter, the same a De Gale, which is really interesting - I think this could be an explosive match up.

Also it seems the IBF is looking like the most legitimate world title given that they don't feck about with super champions etc... and seem to force their mandatory fights much quicker than the other bodies (they gave Froch less than 12 months and seemingly didn't buuy his elbow injury story). IF De Gale can win this fight (and he can) he's really put himself in an excellent position to be considered genuinely world class in my opinion and Froch is going to look like a bit of a knob not fighting him. Also De Gale will become the first ever British Olympic gold medalist to win a world title!
