Apparently, there are rumours of a possible fight between Brook and Juan Manuel Marquez later this year. I actually think that would be a very shrewd move for Brook. Marquez's stock is still high after beating Pacquiao in 2012, but is beatable (as Bradley showed) and would be knocking on 42 by the time they fought. Win that and negotiations with Khan move onto a more even footing, while fights with Pacquiao and Mayweather also start to become more realistic propositions...
I know Kell Brook is a pro and well managed from a good stable but I fear when fighters (or talk from the camp and by pundits) start to look past their next opponent, brings back memories of Haseem Rahman and Breidis Prescott to name just two. Edited by Yiliterate on Tuesday 27th January 12:49

Fantastic news. Hope it works out lucratively for The Jackalhttp://www.boxingnewsonline.net/itv-will-broadcast...
May add a little positivity to the likely agreement for the fight. And they can stop the media BS and just sign the fight up.

Cant help thinking Mayweather has a little help in the height department. Appears he buys trainers with built in lifts.
Always suprised to see him listed as 5ft 8, and yet in the ring he does appear any different to the 5ft 6 and 5ft 7 fighters

I think he's definitely 5' 7", Hatton was always listed as that height and at the Mayweather fight, on the weigh in he looked a tad taller than Ricky.Always suprised to see him listed as 5ft 8, and yet in the ring he does appear any different to the 5ft 6 and 5ft 7 fighters

Yep, I'm officially now a big Kevin Mitchell fan, some sickeningly accurate shots, the upper cut from range was Nasseemesque.
Has he always boxed in the style? I can't say I've watched him loads but was of the opinion he had a very conventional sort of style before.
Really enjoyed that fight. Some devastating shots round after round, really stopped the Mexican from round 1. Has he always boxed in the style? I can't say I've watched him loads but was of the opinion he had a very conventional sort of style before.
Not sure about that style but he always had the promise and skill set to go far but never applied himself and lost his way abit.
When Mitchell was making his way up the rankings, he looked pretty accomplished, and demonstrated he was capable of the spectacular too along the way (check out his KO of Mendoza when he takes him off his feet). I don't think there was a revolutionary change in style at the weekend; just the fulfilment of the capability his performances previously have hinted at. It wasn't just that he looked stronger and noticeably sharper than he's done before, but he had a confidence - an authority about his work - that I haven't really seen from him until now.

Ouch, yeah that's a hell of a shot. I think I saw Mitchell get beaten by Ricky Burns and just assumed he wasn't top class but this weekend he looked really good, suppose Ricky Burns is pretty special or was a few years ago so maybe that's a bit short sighted of me. Anyway I'll be watching him in the future.Edited by Yiliterate on Monday 2nd February 20:41
Mitchell has had major problems with drink and drugs in the past. He turned pro at a very young age and started to achieve notoriety pretty quickly. this went to his head and started the chain of events that were becoming ruinous to his career. a bit of maturity and family responsibilities has made him grow up a lot.

Carl Froch has vacated his IBF super-middleweight.James DeGale who was mandatory will now fight for the vacant title, Eddie Hearn trying to line up Andre Dirrell.
"I'm making history - I'm going to be the first British Olympic gold medallist to win a world title," said DeGale.

A fight against Andre Dirrell would be an intriguing prospect. The Dirrell that came close to beating Froch would have been a formidable prospect but it still isn't know whether he's the same fighter post the claimed 'neurological' issues following the Abraham fight. Really not sure how this one will go, especially as they are both lefties so both lose that usual edge...
