good weekend of action there....

gutted for butler but tete looked phenominal. He just couldn't close the distance effectively. If he'd maybe taken the jabs on the gloves and moved into range as tete was pulling it back he may have had a chance, but that level of timing is hard to get right and tete obviously has great power which makes it even harder.

watching zou shiming on saturday lunchtime i was underwhelmed to be honest.....i wasn't surprised he lost and was thinking watching it that butler would make easy work of him and the guy who was defending his belt. satchell is a good fighter and hopefully he gets a shot out in macau in the summer but if i was butler i'd be dropping a few lbs and having a go myself.

thurman didn't look invincible on saturday night but to be fair that lump was fking horrendous!! as the fight wore on he made guerrero look very one dimentional....

broner just had a punchbag with arms in front of him......

mares fight.......ok but a bit, meh........mind you, i'd been watching boxing for hours up to that point so was probably a bit sick of it all!!

so, i was allowed to pick my own entrance music for my dust up. who better than my very own rock band from the 90's??!!

i thought it would be a great idea to come out to a pretty little ditty called " christopher walken" ....(i did allow myself a chuckle watching a view to a kill on itv only yesterday)

only problem was i remembered everything from gumshield to gloves to vaseline.......but left the cd in the house and had to come out to some generic dance crap.

any excuse, .......this is the glorious rabble rouser in all it's glory.....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7t6g2O5nRdE
Just got round to listening to that (was out of the country at the start of the week). Not bad as it goes; definitely hear the similarities with Linkin Park...could also hear a smidge of Biohazard in there as well, another band for whom I have a bit of time! thumbup
haha!! biohazard!! good man....

our drummer was only a kid when he wanted to join the band back in '94, massive fker and i've never seen anyone hit them skins as hard as him. i gave him urban discipline by biohazard and downset's debut album.

i told him to learn "wrong side of the tracks" by biohazard and "anger" by downset ..(he'd already nailed bombtrack by rage against the machine)......fk me, he was perfect.

we were a bit more of a hardcore band in the mid 90's but of course all this new st like deftones and korn was coming out so i was frantically detuning my les paul and slowing the groove....

we supported a lot of bands that came through the north west but i was absolutely gutted when we couldn't support biohazard at the crazy house because the drummer was on holiday with his parents!!!! i never let him forget how he fked my life up!!

i remember how a lot of labels told us the music was too "niche" and wouldn't sell but it was only a few years later that linkin park dropped hybrid theory.....and that went on to sell 30 million copies!!!

i was born 5 years too early, i tells yer honey!!

I don't think they are at the same level to be honest. I think Frampton should jump at the opportunity

I don't think I've ever seen a Quigg fight but I think Frampton would win on the basis that if he and McGuigan think so, then I do too! In any case, they both deserve a big pay day so this could be it.

I don't think there's a boxer alive who would tell you that they think they'd lose if they're on the cusp of signing that very fight...

Despite that, I think Frampton will win. Only guy I see besting him is Rigondeaux but he hasn't looked amazing in his last couple of outings.

As for the payday, which would dwarf anything either man has earned on a single night, Quigg was not as concerned as might have been imagined.

“That’s a bonus,” he said. “What means more to me is seeing a picture of McGuigan’s face when I beat his fighter. The look on his face money couldn’t buy.”

I think quigg is a better mover and boxer but Frampton seems to have unnatural power and is physically a real specimen, I think it will be great, can't wait.

i think i'm edging towards frampton here with his superior inside work. but quigg's long distance control edges frampton's. both carry big power. close close fight....

i love eddie hearn's idea of a 60/40 split........to whoever emerges victorious....

I was, but streamed as it was on the iPad I couldn't post and view at the same time. Bit of a love in to be honest, nice and repectful, funny to see some oddballs up there. That barnet of the MGM pres was hilarious. Was a bit disappointed Floyd Snr didn't get a chance to read some poetry. Highlight was Freddie Roach "we're going to kick his a$$". Switched off before Beiber got on stage. Also found it amusing when the Mayweather promoter fella mentioned the ticket "on sale" date. Who are they kidding!

Beiber looked a fking disgrace as usual. He jumped in on the photo and kinda mauled Mayweather in giving him a hug.

I really want Manny to win but I fear mayweather's technical supremacy will carry him on points. I know Manny has a plan to steamroller him and open him up but Maidana was closed down with that approach and I can't see Manny being that much more powerful. That said he will be a lot more accurate so who knows...

I think we might see Kahn and Cotto this year.

.....but.........maidana is an extremely crude banger. manny doesn't punch as hard as him but punches A LOT faster. also as a southpaw he moves to the left a lot which is very confusing to right handed fighters . manny's ring iq is great. but so is mayweather's!!

I think they'd both beat Beiber - and they should. Why Mayweather is hanging around with that guy is beyond me.

I think I'm going to change my mind on who I want to win and who will win about a dozen time before now and May 2nd but at the moment I want Manny to win and I think if he does go out for an early stoppage he can do it, but it will be a Kamikaze mission.

i truly believe that if they had met in the early to mid 2000's manny would have gone through floyd. floyd doesn't like disruption to his rhythm and manny's unpredictable reactions couple with his ball-of-fury approach would have done it for him.

can he still do it?? i really hope so but floyd is a master counterpuncher. if manny can throw a hundred punches a round then volume will win him rounds.enough rounds?? we'll see.

Is it correct that back in 2010 when manny was at peak he was taking steroids and since then he has become 'born again' righted his wrong wild ways, stopped taki g the gear and therefore not as powerful?

Pretty much matches my thoughts. At this point in time I think volume is key for Manny, even if only 10% land clean. At his peak, fighting Manny was like fighting a swarm of wasps...for 12 rounds you were just getting stung left, right and centre. Whether Manny has the stamina to do it now is the big question...

By the way, like the new belt! If you're anything like my Mrs though, you'll now need to go out and buy a whole new outfit for it to go with...! wink

It's correct that that's what some people think, and also a reason Mayweather has hinted at in the past for not taking on Manny. Someone knows but I don't think they're going to tell.
