so many to choose from....

barcelona '99 "and solksjaer has won it"

Leeds RL V Adelaide WCC Paul Sterlings' length of field try. competition was rubbish but we proved that day we could beat the aussie clubs (not very often). I still have this game on "VHS" - that's how old I am!!!

Leeds RL third grand final in a row....very special.

Redgrave 5th olympic gold

Being at the SCG for Pidgeons' (Glenn Mgraths') last ever game for Australia - the whole crowd were stood applauding his last over and he took a wicket with his last ball. Blokes were crying in the stands - and then england won!!!!

I can repeat loads already said, Ashes, RWC etc...

United vs Bayen in 1999, what a way to win that cup..

Hamilton in Brazil and those few seconds when Ferrari thought they'd won it...

Spa 1998 when Schummi hit Crazy Dave and we suddenly realised Damon might have one more win in him...

A few already mentioned, a few not;

Istanbul (Clive Tilsey was it? "Hello, Hello, maybe its still up for grabs,")

England V West Germany. The 5-1. When the Germans started cheering every pass after scoring I remember turning to my mate who I was watching the game with and saying "We're going to win this, they're being too cocky," By the end, the crowd were singing "Are you Scotland in disguise?" According to the Sunday Times at the end of the game Sven walked into the dressing room & said "I don't know what to say," Glory days, what happened to them?

The Gazza goal against the Scots. Still the best England goal I've ever seen.

The Carlos Alberto goal. I was 6 but even then I knew I'd probably seen the best goal ever. It stil amazes me.

The Beckham free kick against the Greeks. If ever you need the defintion of the phrase cometh the hour, cometh the man.

Sennas qualifying lap at Brands 85. Maybe you had to be there but this was genius. Friday he's one second faster than everyone else. On the Saturday Rosberg and Piquet get to within a few tenths while he sits and watches in the pits. Last few minutes of the session, fire her up, out he goes, right on the ragged edge, second quicker AGAIN. Pulls into the pits already undoing his belts, jumps out the car, general body language? "Could have done that yesterday just couldn't be bothered," He was toying with them.

Senna winning in Estoril 85.

Murray's voice cracking up as Damon crosses the line to win the championship in Japan. Chokes me up in a totally non-gay way every time I see it. The interview afterwards when Murray asks him, "Did you ever any doubts?"
"Never doubted it for a second Murray, did you?" The joy in his eyes, gets me every time.

Franz Klammer chucking himself down a mountain in 76 to win the gold. I don't think anyone had seen skiing like that before.

Some great memories posted here!

I forgot about this:

Sam Hill World Cup Downhill 2008, he absolutely destroys Steve Peat with a mesmerising ride right up until the finish line is in sight. This vid also has some of the best ever commentary!

That period with Benn,Watson,Collins and Eubank at their peak.

Also from a purely personal point of view the 1975 and 1980 cup finals.

Don't know where to start!

Olympics

Coe and Ovett in Moscow

Daley Thompson in LA

Carl Lewis in LA

Steve Redgrave/Matthew Pinsent

Usain Bolt in Beijing

Sure there are more...

Athletics

1991 World Championships GB Mens 4 x 400m Gold

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PEdNfnRbAc

Rugby

2003 Final Australia v England (I was there!)

Football

1979 FA Cup Final Arsenal V Man U

1989 Arsenal winning the league at Anfield

( I am an Arsenal fan but that was the most dramatic FA Cup final I can remember and undoubtedly the most dramatic finish to a league season ever!)

Oh not forgetting Arsenal going unbeaten for a season in the Invincibles season smile

Euro 96 - England beating Holland 4-0 and the Semi Final v Germany (Lucky enough to be at both!)

Cricket

81 and 2005 Ashes series. Both amazing.

Yep, I remember being suicidal at half time and going through every emotion possible from misery through hope, doubt and then to elation/disbelief. When the equaliser went in I nearly broke my hand on the ceiling when I jumped up. What a night.

1. Istanbul. I wont even begin to bother describing it. Every other LFC will simply nod with their own tales, everybody else wont understand.

2. Jonny. I ran down my street in my dressing gown at 9am a grown man in his 20s yelling my head off.

3. Two '97 Lions memories:
A) Scottie putting Os du Randt on his backside.
b) Dawson squirting down the blindside to score.
Nothing like it was simply supposed to happen, it was impossible.

4. Redgrave's 5th.

5. Benn v Watson. Ive never seen anything like it, I never want to see anything like it again. Nobody, and I seriously believe that nobody, inc even Tyson, would have beaten Benn that night. That was a fight which in hindsight was obvious to realise only one man was going to walk away from and Benn was going to keep getting up no matter what. GM would have had to kill him to make him stay down and it was Benn effectively had to do to GM to beat him. That isnt sport, its somewhere any sane human being doesnt ever want to go. It is no suprise to me that Benn went and found God and has decided to devote his life to charity and religious work.

6. Pantani in 96 or so? I think it was Mig's last yr. After getting off the bike, he gets back on it ...and then destroys a hill. Ive never seen anything like it.

7. Cavendish for his first stage win this year. The sheer and utter desperation of a lost almost broken man finding himself with no idea how to do so, yet only an inner demon to ensure it happen.

8. Cavenish in Bordeau this year. Everybody else go home.

9. Fred crouched down to Lee in 2005. A memory of a contest.

10. Fred on one knee in 2010. A memory of a flawed man.

Bit confused with this,Watson beat Benn in the 6th by memory?
Or is the first bit a typo and you meant McClellan?

Smeg, GM of course, hence why I said GM later on!

(Always thought Watson was the most talented of that group)
