Probably a stupid question but why wasn't that last play ruled a fumble in the Denver/NE game? Was it because it was an attempted two point conversion and does the two point conversion not come under the usual game rules regarding fumbles/incompletes/turnovers/touchdown returns etc?

If the football is fumbled or intercepted during a 2 point conversion attempt in the NFL football rules, the football is dead and cannot be advanced for points by a defensive player, unlike the college game where by the football can be advanced. At least I believe that is the case for 2 point conversion, but I'm sure Saints ran back a blocked extra point attempt by the Panthers this year for a score. The amendment to PAT and 2pt conversions changed for the 2015 season and will probably change again for next year.

Essentially the play was over after the interception, fumble and recovery. The 2 pointer is a set play on its own, with the play finishing at that time. In NFL, either the offensive team scores or the defensive team stops the play through any means.

Cheers, that's what I was wondering. A bit like a penalty shoot out at the end of a football game: if the keeper saves you can't put in the rebound and the defending team can't take it up the other end to score either.

Panthers putting on a bit of a show here, Denver'll have a job on their hands at the big show.

Denver have a great defense, their offense is nothing special.

Rare privilege to have a Super Bowl where I don't dislike one of the teams. As much as I'd like Denver (and Peyton) to win, I can't look past Carolina, they're fearsome this year.

I agree. Glad Bronco's beats the Pats, but Carolina just seem to always come up with the goods. Cam Newton just seems to be able make plays all the time.

You could have got some good money on a Denver vs Carol final on the 9th Jan (think it was something like 7/1), kicking myself i didnt do it now (though i also called a Denver/Bengals final then as well),

Panthers to win

That wasn't the outcome I was expecting. I would have bet on Patriots vs Cardinals for the final after Carolina's lacklustre performance in the second half last week.

Denver are going to get destroyed, Cam Newton is an animal.

That was my thought and if you get in now, you can get to the bookies and Carolina -4 points!!

You don't know much about the NFL do you?

If you were going to bet on a "Denver v Bengals final" you really shouldn't be allowed down the bookies on your own.

Broncos v Bengals Superbowl - that would have been a novelty.

Contrary to my better judgement, I felt bad for the Patriots. They didn't deserve to lose that.

Given the injuries I think they had a great season. I posted this on a board this morning. What makes me laugh is that everyone here in Indy is crowing this morning while their pisspoor joke of a team have been sitting at home for a month with their thumbs up their asses after another season of mediocrity!

Another football season over and another great one for the Patriots. 5th AFC Championship game in a row reached, a feat achieved only once before in history. It was the 10th Championship game for both coach Belichick and Tom Brady, tying the record for both of them. Pats fans are disappointed today but we shouldn't be, fans of other teams can only dream of achieving a fraction of what out team achieve. It's because we are so used to greatness that defeat hurts so much, because we are just not programmed for it. We need to remember, it could be a lot worse. We could be Colts fans.

It means that Carolina are giving the Broncos a 4 point head start in the world of gambling.

As long as Carolina beats Denver by 5 or more points you win the bet. And you can get almost even money.

So if you bet £10 that Carolina will win by more than 5 you'll win almost £20.
