I watch NFL off and on, to do a bit more research I've been watching the NFL Hard Knocks series, seems a pretty cut throat process to get into the starting roster.

What puzzled me, was if a guy gets cut, doesn't make the practice squad or picked up by another team, how does he go about improving for next season? As far as i understand there isn't a second tier competition to drop back into to improve in. Are these guys left for a year looking for alternative employment and trying to train and improve in their free time?
I think people either try to continue to complete for practices squads as these can be adjusted during the season. Or there is a CFL (Canadian Football League) which alot of people do play for.

I think the vast majority of players that don't make it end up becoming regular people having to get jobs outside of football and lead a normal life. http://blog.masslive.com/patriots/2016/08/nfl_rost...

Also there are an awful lot of injuries in the league so you might not make the roster straight away but keep yourself in shape and you might get a call during the year.
Thanks for the replies, i guess with the year on year supply of players from the Colleges, once you've spent 2-3 years being cut, unless you really make a break through the next bright young thing is making the headlines and roster spot. Unlike rugby or football over here, there doesn't appear to be much in terms of lower level competitions to earn in, or improve in...barring the CFL

That being said the seahawks lost anyway so at least i spared myself watching a loss to them. I predict it may not be another magical season by the seahawks!

Couple of ways to do this.

First is the "official" way with NFL Game Pass. https://gamepass.nfl.com/nflgp/secure/packages?ttv...

You pay a subscription and then you can stream every game, watch replays & highlights etc.

Second is the "unofficial" way.

There are websites that stream tv channels and sports events illegally.

You find one of those by searching online.

Anybody else betting/guessing the winners each week?

Friend asked me to help him out as he like a small wage flutter, got 7/11 teams right, should have been 9/11 but dheads get interceptions in the end zone etc.

My picks for week 3 are;
Pats
Cards
Giants
Dolphins
Ravens
Broncos
Panthers
49er's
Chargers

Eagles/Bears play tonight so cant decide on wk 3 of steelers/Eagles or Bears/Cowboys just yet, and the ones not mentioned are all roughly the same as each other

Now on their rookie 3rd string QB against the Texans who held the Chiefs to 4 field goals.
The same Chiefs who hadn't lost since game 6 last season and had a 30 point comeback last week?

Don't see it personally biggrin

In the UK it's a challenge...

Sky Sports has some coverage, but it's pricey to pay for if you don't want anything else from them.

There are free ways of streaming footage. But it's somewhat hit and miss and constantly requires you chasing. Plus I found streamed video quality to be sub par more than often. Making it hard to watch a football being thrown about.

NFL gamepass is probably the best way, but a little pricey. Although if you say watch at least 2 games per week over the entire season, it works out fairly ok on a £/game basis.

I stream games via Kodi and normally can find a decent stream from Sky Sport, or from one of the US Channels. I refuse to pay for Sky so find this the cheapest route. If your happy to pay the Gamepass is the best option.

IF they hadnt lost a game since week 6 last season, then how comes they didnt win the superbowl whistleyumwink

Is that the same Chiefs who lost this week etc.

Didnt know about the 3rd string QB but then having watched the documentary of the Sharks on Any Given Sunday by Oliver Stone, you never know whats going to happen

Ok, my mistake, let me rephrase that.

Yesterday, the Pats next opponents (Texans) beat the Chiefs.

From Game 7 last season, the Chiefs went unbeaten until they lost the divisional playoff against the Pats.

Last week they put 33 points on the board, coming back from a 24-3 deficit against the Chargers.

Yesterday, behind all day and only 4 field goals against the Texans.

The Pats can't play Brady (suspended) or Garopolo (injured) and will play 3rd round pick in the last draft, Jimmy Brisset.

Garopolo went 18 of 27 passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns before coming off hurt.

Brisset went 6 of 9 passes for 92 yards.

The Texans were undefeated in pre-season and 2-0 now.

Yet, your prediction is a Pats win over the Texans biggrin

Agreed, anything can happen. Maybe they should give Jamie Foxx a call to see if he can fill in silly

Yep. The Tuesday night show on BBC2 covers the entire weekend of NFL action and the show the following Saturday (after MOTD) is an extension of that but includes highlights of the recently played Thursday night game and the "football meets football" segment where Osi or Jason meet up with a Premier League footballer who loves the NFL.

I'm glad the BBC kept the same team for the highlights shows as Osi, Jason & Mark have some fantastic banter with each other hehe

I have Sky but they don't always show the Panthers, which is who I want to watch. Gamepass, very expensive. Can't justify it unfortunately. Was just hoping for an easy way to watch 20-30 mins highlights Sunday night.

Tuesday show being the Tuesday immediately after the Sunday that the games were played?
