Aside from the OT it was pretty lacklustre tbh , certainly won't be remembered as a classic . KC on the treble ?
It waz a stone cold classic defence driven game, thats always far more interesting than a high scoring offensive game for me.

I actually felt sorry for the table of about 8 noisy 49er fans.
Some of them (3) were inconsolable.
Really crying their eyes out.

I thought it was a good game.
It was very close.
Although low scoring
the defence sides played well.
Great way to win the game.

The half-time show was also good.
You will never please everyone.
But even if you didn’t know any of the songs or even liked them.
You have to admit, it was very well put together.
The dancers, the big band/orchestra.
They put on a hell of a show.

As I'm not familiar with all the rules of the game, inbetween downs sometimes the clock continues, and other times it stops, what determines this?

Usually it carries on, unless the ball or the ball carrier goes out of bounds at the side of the pitch, you'll quite often notice them running plays that put the ball near the sidelines so they can achieve this.

And the clock stops at 2 minutes left in the quarter (half?), and they have a certain amount of timeouts per game that will stop the clock.

Clock stoppers: Player runs out of bounds, incomplete pass, timeout, two minute warning (end of each half), ref stops play for an injury.

Thanks, that explains it for me

Just finished watching the whole game and I thought it was very good. OK, not many big plays in terms of yardage but the defensive stops, errors and nail biter ending were key ingredients. There doesn't need to be 70 points on the board for it to be a great game.

49'ers special teams cost them in the end. Missed extra point and FUBAR on the punt return.

That was extraordinary. I wonder if there will be any fallout.
He should be sacked.

He won't be. The whole TS bks is too valuable.
Just seen they had him with the mic in his hand on the podium at the end. Madness.

An incomplete pass or spike (which is basically the QB putting the ball on the ground to simulate an incomplete pass) stops the clock. That's the most common reason.

There are so many clock rules we would be here all night going through them, the rules even change in the last 2 minutes of each half.

What happend? I watched the first half, but missed the second and only caught up with the highlights.

Edited realised your talking about Kelce / Reid incident. Did seem to be out of order on Travis to do that. They obviously sorted it as Travis was back in the game later on.

Not sure what the issue is with Taylor Swift though. Who gives a st.

Yeah there are a few YouTube videos about ‘rare penalties and umpire calls in the NFL’ where there are tons of specific scenarios and conditions they have to be aware of, explains why most of the officials are pushing pension age, takes them that long to learn the rules!

The very last image of the Sky coverage when watching the final credits live was Taylor Swift. Ridiculous.

I'm less inclined to sack Kelce now, biggrin Reid doesn't seem to care, I just thought it appalling to do what he did, a lesser player would be out the door.

I think in many/most other scenarios Kelce would be out the door, but Andy Reid's not every other coach. A conversation will doubtless take place, Kelce will get on with his job and Reid's authority will be strengthened, not diminished.

Mahomes is a genius, no question, but I wonder if he'd be quite as good under any other coach than Reid?

I'm a fan smile

A good game, not great, too many poor plays from both offences, some top class defensive plays. Only the finish will be remembered in a few years time. Half time show yet again was hype over substance, not on the dire level of the Black Eyed Peas but still rubbish as most have been over the past few years.

First day back at work after a few days off after having a Super Bowl gathering at mine. Maybe not quite the game we wanted as a collective, but still enjoyed.

Seen a lot of 49ers fans saying they were the better team and Purdy was better than Mahomes. Feels like trolling tbh, Purdy had a pretty poor game from what I remember seeing especially when we got to the second half, he just felt underwhelming. You always feel like Mahomes has a score in him on a drive and it depends on the defence to come up with something big. His ability to scramble is amazing/frustrating depending on who you are.

I agree with your feeling on Mahomes and the stats are also significantly better for Mahomes with posted 333 passing yards plus 66 running with 2 TD's (and 1 INT) and a 74% completion rate vs. 255 and 12 with 1 touchdown and 61% for Purdy.

I think it will be interesting to see Purdy develop. This was his first full year as a starter QB and he ended up in the SB. He’s young and if he avoids injury he clearly has what it takes.

Can’t help thinking that if he was two inches taller, with an attitude and glamorous girlfiend / lifestyle, the press and social media would treat him very differently.
