I played prop for 40 years.
I cannot recall a single opposed scrum where I did not cheat.
Sometimes dramatically, sometimes subtly, but cheating was what I did.
Never moaned at a ref though smile
There is a difference with props, though, isn't there. It is assumed that they struggle with basic instructions so more or less right is the best that can be hoped for.

The moving a free kick 10yds forward was tried years back, and it worked. It was introduced to combat the perpetual dissent, sadly raising it head again, and was only a trial which was dropped all too soon. Personally I would like to see it reintroduced, allowing the kick to be taken anywhere within a 10yard radius of the original position.

Genuine question...do English football players get paid to be in the national squad? Like the world cup, I can understand if they get free flights and digs sorted. But do they get a wage?

Are you sure? This seems to say they do it as a squad.

He wouldn't be able to waggle his finger at footballers then.

AFAIK all the squad donate their international match fee's to charity.

any players prize money gained from tourno's is also given away.

I believe it was the current captain Terry who set this in stone along with Becks. upto then a few did but not all.

The thing is Rugby isnt the universal support football is. The money involved so multiplied so many more times. If the same money was involved the same level of wages would be involved too. you would have a johnny wilkinson earning £150K a week. When you start talking the millions of pounds worth of prize money going up teams start doing what they can to gain that advantage.

watch grass roots football and its exactly what the rugby fanboys shout about their own sport.

I'm sure if Rugby players earned like footballers do, they'd be all over the papers too.

Sadly they never will as its not anywhere near as popular.

i might be wrong here but is it not far easier to simulate a foul in football than it is in rugby?

as much as i hate him someone made a good point with ronaldo. as he's running at a fast pace it wont take much to touch him and knock him off balance - i'm sure there is a bit of acting after that too but with players like ronaldo they're trained up to be trimmed up fit and fast so they do go down easier

rugby players do tend to be much more muscle much more bulk and they can take a hit and two.

you only need to look at that player who married charlotte church to see what rugby players can become with a bit of cash. to give his due johnny wilkinson kept his feet on the ground with the publicity he gets though.

not meaning to troll but rugby is not back page grabbing week in week out. unless england play or some big tourno is on they're never on the back page. a footballer gives an interview and its a two page spread.

Its all to do with the Money.

The money didn't come first. The popularity came first, then the money.

But yes, although Ronaldo etc go down a lot they're built a lot different to rugby players, and they don't need to be built to take hits. Ronaldo is one of the more muscular fottballers too.
