I am confused as to what are the preferred tyres for my 89 SE. I can't seem to get the correct sizes from one maker for front and rear? The Lotus test recommended Pirrelli P6000 but even they seem unavailable.

215-50-15 Fronts
245-50-16 Rears

were the original spec.

Options?

I had the same issue with the rears on my 88 turbo.

I did find a site that recommended lotus approved alternatives, I think mine went from 235/15/* to a 225/15/* .

I will try to find the site and put up a link

ok re-edit this

It appears the recommended tyres are goodyear eagle gs-a

fronts 215/50/ZR 15 and rears 245/50/zr 16

These are no longer made

the recommendation is to go for standard size one rear and on front

205/50/ZR 15.

These will probably have to be different makes front/rear.

the alternative is to buy the X180R wheels I am trying to shift which already have rears and the fronts for those can be sourced easily enough wink

Just checked with my wholesaler and you can get a Kuhmo 245/50 16 , but your fronts would have to be Dunlop SP 9000

That is what I ended up buying. Dunlops/Kumhos. Should get the car back in the next couple of weeks.
