G'day All
Long time no posts on forum .
Though i still have my Gcar .... just dont get around driving it much.

Scenario..
Changed oil and filter ...car on ramps
... "Ill put oil cap back on"
.... learnt over side of car
.... started to put cap on .....
..... bounce bounce ...it slipped off and somewhere down below.

Hours of searching on numerous occasions .... (when i was optimistic and inspired)

Still cant find it ......
Even drove it up the driveway .... hoping it would drop out ......

................... NO SUCH LUCK .....................

I POSE A ?

Where did Lotus get their OIL CAPS from in the beginning ...which parts bin ?
I believe there were 3 types in the Esprits
.... Early ones had ratchet clip cap
.... Next had a larger hole ..bigger cap normal cap
.... Mine had a smaller hole about 35-37mm diameter normal cap

Another ?
Apart from buying from Lotus dealers etc.... and faint at the price

From what car ...WOULD A OLI FILLER CAP FIT
Many Thanks

I know that Lotusbits have had a batch of filler caps made up in aluminium. Not sure exactly which of the 9xx series engines they fit, but I'm sure they could check the dimensions if you give them a ring - or see if they have a second-hand one of the type you need somewhere on the shelves.

Not everything on a Lotus has come from another car, btw.

Thanks Marshalla

Though i wonder how many sods have lost their OIL CAPS or have found them wearing out.
To think that the oil cap is Lotus specific .... hard to swallow though maybe your right.
What type have you on your Excel? .... is the oil hole about 36-37mm diameter ?
If so do you wish to get a new one and i can have your old one ....
