Hi Everyone

My old Esprit is for sale in an auction tomorrow. The full details of how unique this Esprit is are not fully known to the auction house but I will share with you all.

1)Essex dry sump development car. Pre Production Prototype 3 (1 of the 3 chassis numbers not listed between S2 and S3 production starting)Pre prod No 1 was confirmed as being used on the Bond Film "FOR YOUR EYES ONLY" No 3 cannot be confirmed or unconfirmed as having a roll in the bond film.

2)Probably used at the Albert Hall Essex launch event with its 2 other prototype Essex Turbo cars.

3)After its Essex origins it was confirmed as being repainted to show the James Bond Producers a paint scheme that Lotus felt would work best against a snow back ground. This paint scheme was afterwards passed for production cars also.

4)After the bond film connection it was used as a development car for the V8 engine to be used in the Etna project.

5)After the Etna project ceased the car and its prototype engine was used to develop the intake injection system for the LT1 Chevy engine.

6)Listed firsts :-

ALL LOTUS V8 powered car

Esprit to wear the rear bumper with LOTUS embossed in the rear bumper

I bought the car with the V8 engine removed as it was put on display at Hethel. I then returned the car to Esprit Turbo Spec with an HC Turbo engine. Some adapters had to be made to enable a standard Esprit engine fitted to the car as the chassis had been modified and strengthened to take the V8 engine.

I hope this is of interest to you all, please see the link below.

The history of the car was supplied to me by Patrick Peal who at the time the Esprit was at Lotus was the development engineer in charge of MPW71V

Not my car to sell anymore. I think it did not meet its reserve.

Cheers Mike
