Hi. I am looking at a 1995 S4s with 21k miles. Last owner since 1998. The supplying Lotus dealer is stating full service history. It looks in super shape. I believe the previous owner has hardly used it over the years and I understand been in dry storage. Now, should there really be a service stamp for every year even if it's only covered a few hundred? The Mot's back up the mileage. It looks as though the Cam belts have been changed at the correct intervals. I have not owned an S4s for a few years so just checking. Any thoughts are welcome please. Or if anyone knows or has looked at this car. It's sitting in Hilton & Moss.

Hi,
If it's the one I'm thinking of this S4s has been for sale for about 2 years or more but last time I looked it said 'sold' ?
I know nothing about the car but it does look nice in the pictures. With regards service history when was the belt last replaced ? It may have been only a few thousand miles ago but they deteriorate with age as well so if it's a while since it was done I'd be changing it asap. Tyres need checking as well with regards age.
If it has been in storage for a while then it will have 'missed' some services but to me that wouldn't be a problem, I'd be more concerned with whether it has been run regularly while stored. I bought mine in 2011 with 35k miles on & she definitely does not like been stuck for long periods in the garage. Things like the charge cooler impellor can stick & fail & the ABS pump doesn't like being dormant not to mention the dreaded pressure switch !! I try to have a run out in mine & get her up to temperature at least once a month during the Winter ( salt permitting )& drive her as often as I can in Summer.
Prices for S4s models seem to be on the up, there is a discussion over on the lotus forums on this subject, if you haven't been on there it's certainly worth a look.
Good luck, regards Phil.

Hi Phil
Thank you for replying. The reason it says sold is coz I've actually put a deposit on it! smile I know it has been up for sale for a long time so I was curious as to why....obviously it is, in my opinion, a tad too expensive but I have negotiated a good price I think, as long as they stick to their word as far as preparation goes. They are going to service it and do the belts. The tyres are practically brand new as they put an MOT on it last year and replaced them. They have told me they have used it reasonably regularly. The air con has been re gassed and system checked and all okay. The condition of it backs up the low mileage so I'm sure it's genuine. I have not dealt with Hilton before but I'm guessing the are reputable!
Regards
Stuart

Yes I will, as soon as I take ownership. The C service has been completed as well as Cam belts and tensioners. ABS issue being corrected at the moment.

Unfortunately they were un able to repair a problem with the AC.
Every time they delivered the car back to me it was not properly fixed so back it went. It wasn't the best experience.
However after they enrolled the AC specialist it got sorted. The S4s is running lovely now!! 😄
