I have been doing some research and I have found that the latest renault clio wheels have the same PCD and CB as the older stephens (5 x 108 and 60mm ). this is good news as they aare fairly inexpensive and have a huge range of aftermarket alloys. the offsset however is different being +42-68 (varies for aftermarket wheels) instead of +23.3 and +30 for the rears.

i want the wheels to look more modern and fill the arches so they need to come out maybe 20mm or so from current postition. Am I right in thinking that +42 mm will actually sit in a bit closer so in order to make them fill the arches I will need a 60mm spacer???

I will be trying to keep the wheels the same width as originals

any help appreciated

thanks

You will need spacers equal to the difference between the ETs. This on line calculator will give you an idea of different widths and offsets:
