Just looking at Esprits in the classifieds, when I bought my 94 S4 16 years ago it was on 52k, lots of other cars were priced around the same with similar mileage. 16 years later & mine has just passed 101,000, its now better, faster, smoother, more reliable that when I bought it... but why is every Esprit for sale still around 50k miles when mine has doubled in the time i've had it?

Esprits can easily handle lots of miles, infact they like being driven rather than laying around for months so have all these cars not turned a wheel in 16 years... I don't think so, whats going on?

Pic from this mornings 30 mile blat!

Hers a shot of mine, it has 47.7k miles on it, i have done 4k in the last year on it and must admit it gets better the more its used. Theres a red one around for sale at the moment with 70k miles on it but not seen many with higher miles on. I think people are worried about piling miles on as it might affect the value, i have put that 4k miles on in the last 12 months and it feelso much better to drive than when i first got it.

Had mine (94 S4) since 99, it's now got over 130,000 on the clock. You're right though they run very well with higher mileage

Totally agree with the posts here. In fact having owned about over 10 Lotus car over the years, all various models.I would even go as far to say that I would be very wary of buying a ultra low mileage older Lotus.Certainly wouldn't pay a premium for the fact that it may need loads of money thrown at it.

They need be used. They do not like sitting around doing a couple of hundred miles between MOT's

Current Esprit S4 has 105,000 miles on clock and is running sweet as can be. I did have a S3 Turbo years ago which had done 160,000 miles, over 100k of this covered by me and it was a cracker. I only sold it to get into a SE.

both cars look stunning, my brother had the very same V8 turbo several years ago, when he sold it it went on transporter, then in a container and off the New Zealand, sad really, I haven't seen one on the road for years!!
