Blimey, thats a new one, a colour blind painter !.If you can`t see it, it Looks good mate, you did well. You ought to have got that engine checked though. Make sure the gearlinkage is in good order and not broken at the box or the gearlever end.It will take a while for the suspension to settle which it will once on the road.

Top drawer.Look forward to seeing it finished.Don`t worry if the oil pressure is really low when Hot, that is how they are . Noisey buggers too, though if the top end is quiet that is a result. My main concerns are the liner nip height/ head gasket and over heating issues. They do take time to bleed aswell.

Update please! Really enjoying seeing the progress. Even if it does cost you more than it's worth there is great value and satisfaction in restoration.

god its been cold!, so very slow progress. Engine and box back in,radiators in,the 4 branch exhast manifold is on but the rest of the system seems like it will be a mission to fit!. got it turning over today, will charge up battery and put fuel in, might even get it going in the next few days?
does the 2.2 run on unleaded? hearing it start will give me a bit more enthusiasum to press on.
Can anyone send me some pics of engine bays on a 2.2 n/a, would like to check routes of wires and pipes etc.to mickapps@talktalk.net- thanks

The exhaust is now fitted, the 4 branch from s j sports cars wouldnt fit properly due the the series 3 chassis and engine with a series 2 body. Used the four branches and had to buy another collector and then get a pipe made to fit the remainder of the system.Engine seems very quiet now!
Does anyone know the clutch pipe route? there is an oil pressure switch adjacent to the oil pressure pipe on the block, would a series 2 have this switch as there appears to be no wiring to it.
anyone with a series 2 or 3 live near me so i can take some pics? nazeing essex

Hi There. Send us some pics of the progress! Wish I could help regarding your question but can I suggest you contact David Walters. He knows heaps about esprits, and if he can't answer your Q himself he might be able to put you onto someone who can. He's on the thread "looking to buy an Esprit V8" as Superdave.

so after probally 10 years laid up i drove her up and down the drive under her own steam!!, no doors bonnet, hatch only front brakes connected.Took a while to bleed coolant, the fans even cut in,
The removable rear cross member bolts dont line up, will poss have to use a dozer to push chassis apart to line up the bolts. Cant be normal?
removed the dash pod so i can see all the wires, could do with a decent wiring diagram, there is a black box with loads of thin black wires whats this??glued to dash pod.
Cant load up any pics?
Whoever took it the dash apart labelled up some of the connections but 10 year old labels? cant read them!!
I put a braided clutch pipe, new slave and clutch master cyl,

If you haven't already signed up for them, posting this on the various Lotus forums(should that be Lotii fora?) will have a better chance of an experienced and knowledgable response, as they will have doubtless been there, done that and had it tattooed on their retinas. I like Esprit World, and would like an S3 at some point, although I harbour unholy thoughts about transplanting a Zetec/Duratec/redtop because Lotus twinks give me the fear.

No need for brute force, just put a trolley jack under the chassis underneath the gearbox. As you jack it up, the two sides of the chassis will move apart until the holes line up with the crossmember.

Simples.
