Great pictures Robert. Just how long have you been taking photos at Goodwood ? Not only has Goodwood changed but so have the cars, cameras and clothes !
You must have been about 6 -10 years old when all this was going on if your profile age is to go by :-)

I've found a few more in the loft so thought I'd revive the thread. Firstly a Sunbeam Tiger at the chicane.

Me again in my GTE just before the chicane.

Three Alpine A110 in the paddock.

A single A110 looking the other way, with the old inspection ramp in the background.

Mate Cliff's racing Esprit with what is now the Earl's Court building in the background.

The Esprit again, this time being loaded at the end of the day with what passed for the pits back then!

Great thread, and I well remember the old inspection ramp, that got used many a time when I used to spanner or co-drive on the many single venue stage rallies or sprints that I used to do at Goodwood back in the 1980's!!!
I must have a root around for old photos - must have some somewhere!!

Well Done guys
I remember the Supercar days always amazing seeing these cars in what was quite a dust bowl back then withthe oil barrels next to the pit for old oil and bits. Stark contrast to todays pits.
Keep the pix coming there must be more out there.

I Have some I can try and dig out if your still looking. Im sure youll have had a good response as the track was really only kept going by owners clubs and the real enthusiasts.
Have photos that include:
The 9hr races from in my dads day, and the regular Alfa club meets in the early 80's. All the cars in these pics are worth a fortune if still around. Also have some 90's ones when Mithril used the 200sx/300zx. Awesome cars in their day!! I remeber when they put them up for sale, I imagine it took them a while to pass those on. There are also a few bike events. These used to be organised for customers of a big Bike dealer in London, I forget their name but long gone I think. This is circa 94-96 with the born again bikers and exotic bikes were hot property. used to go there after school and watch Blades and 916's pulling wheelies along the straight just as they had an audience. Sadly these day are gone. Cars look quite slow after watching bikes down the striaght.

These are from a Motor Show that was being held at Goodwood in the summer of 1988.

Various dealership stands there and I remember being driven round the circuit in a Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth (photo below) and a Vauxhall Astra GTE 16V. I remember being wowed by the digital dashboard.

That Opel Kadett is a blast from the past. I used to sell Opel cars and remember that one. It was built from a written off car that, I seem to remember, was supplied by the garage I worked for. Builder and driver was Dave Bray ( from Ringmer, I think ) Used to run the Brighton speed trials in it. Rover V8 powered. He got fed up of people asking what it was, so had signwritten on the front "itsanopel"
