I think the point that is being missed, and to be clear I am not complaining just commenting, (I bought 3 of the them smile ) is that it is a shame that it appears that some food things are excessively priced. Whether you have the option to take your own, whether you decide to have an egg roll instead, or whether you grin and bear it, £6 for a bacon sandwich is a bit of a rough deal for two slices of bacon when others are selling it more cheaply.
Which, yes, suggests that the punters didn't look to see what their options were but there you are.
Thank you. That was exactly my original point.

The Goodwood Organic Food wagons were selling them at £6, others at anything from £4.50 which is just taking the rind.

Music festivals are (or can be) especially bad for this. Bestival last year - can were £4 ea. and food started @ around £6 for tea, and went up to about a tenner. We felt that they were really going for it. You can bring your own booze, sure, but it (eventually) won't be cold. Agreed, they were on an island, and transport is more expensive (esp. with the ferry companies jacking prices up for the weekend, but that's supply and demand at work to some degree.

We did moan about it (especially when a round of drinks came to £16) and you do tend to sup a bit more than usual at festies. It cost a fortune, but we were there, and there's no point scrimping too much. End result: we had a great time, but didn't go back this year.

i dont think ticket prices are high i go all 7 day with fos and revival so about 30 quid a day. if you wanted to you can go to a lower league football match and spend that for the privaledge of 90 minutes of swearing and men in shorts rolling on the ground, drinks and food at football also is very expensive. so approx 30 pounds for 10 hours entertainment that you will not get anywhere else is a bargin i think. i take my own food and only buy what i need to there.

£6 for a 2 rasher roll is disgusting tbh.

Just because you have a captive market doesn't mean it's ok to rip people off.

I wonder how they justify the expense and I wonder how much they would sell if they dropped they prices down to ridiculous instead of obscene?
Pack a lunch then, or buy a Tesco sandwich on the way....?!
I take it you don't think that 2 rashers and a roll is disgusting.

I'm not forced to. I can choose to buy there if I want, but to be honest I'd rather have something from outside and use the saving to cover my petrol!

and you choose to because the prices are ridiculous.

I just think it's sad when people are reduced to taking a packed lunch because of the profiteering.
There's nothing we can do about it but it's still sad.

Quoted for the education/new money/spelling linkage hehe

If you don't take your own food, then you are at the mercy of the crap food/overpriced caterering. There is no enforcement of turning up empty handed. I saw two ladies that had Champers and a full on cake stand, on their rug down by Lavant corner. They bought it all from home due to the evidence of a wicker hamper. That by the very definition of it, is doing Goodwood properly. The UK modern equivalent of "Digging for Victory"..!!!

No, experience tells me to look at the food, and decide if its worth it.
Particularly at these outdoorsy do-s the wagon grub is cack.
I just do M+S on the way, and buy a coffee to go with the BLT and cheddar Crisps, doncha know.
