Breakfast club soft top Sunday 7 October
Discussion
I don't understand why some obvious non-soft top cars were in the viewing areas? Pals with the organisers perhaps? Can't read the sign at the entrance? Blind marshals? Who knows.
That said it was a great FREE morning out, brilliant weather, really can't complain. Plus the walk to the very end of the line of cars was good exercise
I enjoyed it

Great morning. Lots of fabulous cars & people.
Yet another winge about the food though! Don't have any objection about £5.50 for a bacon roll BUT come on Goodwood - the quality of the bacon is AWFUL!!!!
I've never eaten such a fatty piece of bacon (well my roll was just full of bacon rind) I'm sure you have lots of remnants of fatty bacon strewn all around the circuit as i viewed many people trying to remove the excessive fat
Not the best advert for Goodwood Organic or / and Farm Shop?
I really have no objection to charging a premium for food at a free event but come on, please sort the quality of the food!!

...I am a bit miffed...
This comment must come up every single month for the last 5 years. Does it really matter where you park?
The "theme" is honestly not important - it's always worth taking a stoll around the car parks to see what interesting kit has turned up regardless of the theme.
Overall I thought it was a brilliant turnout and great weather but I can't help but wonder why some of the cars were on the track, I know its was soft top sunday, but when there are mini convertibles and peugeot 207cc being let on, I just kind of think why, they should keep the common stuff in the external car parks and let some of the rarer stuff in, I would rather look at 20 caterhams in a row than mini.

well, you know, it does a bit. If they advertise it as 'soft top sunday', and you go down there with your soft top and get put in a field for no apparent reason with all the brand new euro boxes, while matey bks behind you in his 'mini' gets ushered onto the track, it kind of takes the point of it away a bitDoes it really matter where you park?

ETA grammar and rolly eyes because the point was missed in a spectacular fashion, even though it was a very good day

Not sure where you were buying your bacon roll, but the pair of burgundy Goodwood food trailers near the Earls Court replica building were doing bacon rolls for £4.50 or bacon and egg for £5.00.Yet another winge about the food though! Thought the plated brekkie for £10 looked a complete rip off however. Being our first time, we didn't find this out til we got near the tills and saw what people were paying.. and what they got. We ducked out and headed for bacon and egg rolls

I understood your point. My point is that it doesn't matter where you park, there are great cars spread everywhere regardless of the theme so where you or others park is largely irrelevant. It's part of the fun and the "theme" is just a guide. Sometimes I think they should just get rid of it completely and silence the moaners.
I should also like to add that I am a volunteer marshal at Brooklands and have helped at about 15 events this year still with some more upcoming . We tend to have to follow directions of the event co ordinater which can change a little as the day unfolds . Experience proves you can't please all of the people all of the time. We only hope that people get a good day out safely . It's easy to criticise.!!
Goodwood marshalling is random at the best of times but at the end of the day it is a FREE event. As for more "common" cars being let in, I have no problem with this, as a I drive a fairly common car. If you want a concours event with rare and exotic vehicles there are plenty of places that will cater for your needs, very few that would be free.
Classics and supercars get the chance to exhibit all he time so giving the more common mass produced cars a chance at being on the grid at Goodwood seems fair enough.
Afterall there are plenty of classics that were "common" in their day.
I look at GWBC as a gathering of enthusiasts.

Its funny that nobody seems to have noticed an ordinary looking 50,s sportscar WOW a Colin Chapman original car that spawned the Lotus 7, it still had its Ford sidevalve and sliding pillar suspension, a rare car indeed.
Mine was also a rare beast and I got ushered into the inner paddock............with my Quantum RST engined 2+2 kit car.
Still it made a change from all those damn MX5,s and Caterhams!
I reckon that this FREE event is fantastic and all credit to Lord March for giving back to enthusiasts.
Free or pay its a not to be missed event.
Great morning out. Best traffic jam in the world! The only time i've been glad to be stuck in a jam. Ferrari 330 behind us, Ferrari 430 in front, with Porsche, Astons and Cobras everywhere. Would like to say my 9yr old son could barely contain himself and would be lying if i said i wasn't the same.
Our first Breakfast club, so walking onto the circuit to see so many cars already there by 8am was amazing. Great experience and free. Plus the weather was stunning, what more could you ask for.
As for the food, well it may have seemed a little pricey compared to Morrisons or Asda breakfast but we were happy to pay that little extra seeing what else we were getting (hundreds of fab cars to view). And our bacon was fortunately very tasty and no fat for us.
